The glass no longer stands on the bare worktop but on grained wood – and that corner of the kitchen becomes calmer.
The Puristika is one of the few machines where the water tank doesn't disappear into the housing. It's made of glass and can be placed freely – next to the machine, behind it, wherever suits you. That makes it visible, and everything visible is part of the experience. Design, material and feel influence enjoyment before the first sip; vessel, colour and surface measurably change perception. A glass cylinder on olive wood tells a different story from the same cylinder on granite.
It's made of olive wood and gives the glass tank a fixed place. Every base is unique: olive wood grows slowly and irregularly, and the grain turns out differently on every piece – lighter, darker, calmer, livelier. That's why it isn't possible to pick a specific piece in advance. Wood is also a natural material and changes over time; colour and figure keep maturing over the years.
Nobody buys a wooden base because the machine extracts better with it. You buy the feeling that comes when the morning light falls on the grain and the Puristika takes its roughly fifteen minutes to heat up, during which you're only watching anyway. This decision is an emotional one, and that's how we describe it. If you want it, you know why. Our opinion is one of many.

For anyone with an ECM Puristika who sees the free-standing glass tank as part of the picture and not as an accessory that's just standing around somewhere. The Puristika is a single boiler that focuses entirely on espresso – slim, calm, with no superfluous elements. An olive wood base picks up this attitude and gives it a warmer tone.
And it's for anyone who loves wood because no two pieces look alike. If you'd rather have a consistently uniform look, the glass tank on the worktop serves you just as well – there's no right or wrong here. The ECM collection shows which other machines belong to the family.
If your eye is already on material and surface, it's worth taking the step to the cup. In cups for espresso, cappuccino and latte art, thick-walled and thin-walled vessels sit side by side – the same extraction tastes noticeably different from them, because wall thickness and colour help shape perception.
Under the cup belongs a scale, because espresso is described by weight ratio, with 1:2 as a starting point. For anyone who wants an affordable and precise scale: the Normcore collection. If you want an app, flow-rate display and Bluetooth: the Acaia collection. Tamping follows the same pattern – affordable and good is the Normcore Spring-Loaded Tamper; if you want more, you'll find the tamper from Weber Workshops.
For the glass water tank of the ECM Puristika. This machine's tank stands freely next to the housing, and the base gives it a fixed place.
Similar, but not identical. Every base is unique, and the grain turns out differently on every piece. It isn't possible to pick a specific piece in advance.
Yes. Wood is a natural material; colour and figure keep maturing over the years. That's part of it and makes the piece even more individual over time.
It's made for the Puristika's tank. The fit with other tanks isn't confirmed – write to us with the machine you have, and we'll look at it together beforehand.
Yes. You can see our range in person in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. If you order online: delivery to Switzerland and Liechtenstein takes 2 to 4 working days.
The Puristika suits a bean that carries the espresso without needing milk. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight do exactly that – dense, round, sweet, with chocolate and nut on the finish. If you're after maximum body without any acidity, reach for Very Nutty. And if you're curious, take Wild Peach – fruity, lively, a discovery on the side. That's our recommendation, one of many; any other bean works just as well.
