AeroPress Original – Coffee press for a clear, round cup
Pour hot water over the coffee grounds, stir briefly, gently press the plunger down – after a little over a minute, a clear, round cup stands before you, soft and without bitterness.
The AeroPress Original combines immersion with light pressure: The coffee steeps briefly in the water, then the plunger presses it through the filter. This results in a concentrated, clean coffee that you can drink as a short shot or extend with hot water for a longer coffee. Cold brew also works with it. We carry AeroPress at Coffee Coaching Club.
How it works
Coffee and water go into the chamber, a short stirrer distributes everything, then you slowly push the plunger down. The light pressure shortens the contact time and keeps the cup clear – the method is very forgiving and is done in a few minutes. A separate kettle is needed, as the AeroPress does not heat the water; depending on the recipe, you work just below boiling point.

Who it's for
For everyone who wants a clean cup quickly – at home, in the office or on the go. If you want to travel more compactly, check out the AeroPress Go; if you regularly brew for two, the AeroPress XL.
What goes with it
Freshly ground tastes best – a hand grinder from the hand grinders, such as from Comandante or Timemore, is ideal. For precise dosing, a scale – affordable from the Normcore series or with an app from the Acaia collection. Plus a kettle from the Varia collection and replacement filters from the AeroPress collection. Beans like Nutty Delight for a round cup or the fruity Wild Peach for bright notes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the AeroPress make real espresso?
No, not a 9-bar espresso with dense crema. It brews a concentrated, clear coffee by immersion and light pressure – drinkable as a short shot or extended with water for a longer coffee.
Which filters can I use?
The included paper filters for a particularly clear cup or a reusable stainless steel filter for more body. Both can be found in the AeroPress collection.
How hot should the water be?
Depending on the recipe, just below boiling point. The AeroPress does not heat the water itself – you need a kettle.
Can I see it before buying?
Gladly. You can experience the AeroPress live in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon.
Roastery Tip
For a round, chocolatey cup, grind a little finer and brew for a shorter time – for example with Nutty Delight. If you like it bright and fruity, grind coarser and steep longer, for example with Wild Peach. This is our recommendation, one of many.
