The espresso flows into the cup, the crema settles densely and remains – and while the coffee stays hot inside, the exterior wall feels comfortably cool in your hand. You hold something solid, calm, that simply supports the moment without taking away your warmth or warming your fingers.
It's a small cup with a clear purpose: to keep the espresso as warm and unadulterated as it comes out of the machine.
The double wall is the whole trick. An insulating layer sits between the inner and outer walls, slowing down heat transfer: the espresso stays at temperature longer, while the outside remains cool enough for you to comfortably hold the cup. This is not only pleasant but also relevant for taste – temperature plays a role in which aroma compounds are released and how you perceive them. An espresso that cools too quickly tastes different from one that retains its warmth.
The cup is made from robust 304-grade stainless steel, BPA-free. The reinforced rim feels clean on the lips and bundles the aroma to the nose, while the wide opening makes pouring smooth and splatter-free. The rounded bottom is easy to clean, and because the cups are stackable, multiple cups take up hardly any space. It's the kind of vessel you like to pick up in everyday life – not because you have to, but because it feels right. Whether that's important to you is your decision; this is just our view, one of many.

The Double-Insulated Cup is for anyone who enjoys their espresso warm and at leisure – at home with the machine as well as during tasting, where it's important that the cup retains its temperature. Those who prefer to use the vessel as a catch cup directly under the portafilter and want to pour controlled will find the suitable counterpart in the version with a spout from our Acaia Collection. With us, every coffee journey is welcome.
A cup lives from what goes into it. You can pull the perfect espresso on a machine from our espresso machines, and the beans for it can be found in our coffee beans. The sister cup with a spout, as well as scales and other Acaia accessories, are shown in our Acaia Collection. Unsure what suits your setup? Our consultation tool can help.
No. Clean the cup by hand with warm water and a soft cloth, without abrasive agents or sponges – this will keep the surface and insulation beautiful for a long time. It is also not microwave-safe.
The insulating layer between the two walls slows down heat transfer. Your espresso stays warm longer, while the outside remains cool enough for you to comfortably hold the cup.
This version has a wide, round opening and is the classic drinking and serving shape. The version with a spout has a shaped pouring lip and is suitable as a catch cup for catching espresso directly under the portafilter and pouring it in a controlled manner. Both can be found in our Acaia Collection.
It holds 120 ml (4 oz) – the perfect size for espresso and small milk-based drinks. Made from 304-grade stainless steel, it is robust and stackable.
A warm cup makes more of a difference for espresso than you might think – we like to rinse it briefly with hot water before the shot drops. For taste, we often opt for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight – full-bodied, sweet, dense. If you like it full and rounded without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. This is our recommendation, one of many, and any bean you enjoy is the right one.
