Bright Cassis comes from the Tero Farm in the Ethiopian region of Guji. At 1800 to 2200 metres above sea level, heirloom varieties thrive on nutrient-rich volcanic soil, organically certified – this terroir gives the coffee its striking freshness and aromatic depth.
Where our Wild Peach captures the warm sweetness of sun-ripened stone fruit, Bright Cassis feels clear, zesty and alert.
As an omniroast, Bright Cassis is made for several brewing methods. The light roast emphasises its lively acidity and clear berry fruit – in the cup, a precise interplay of blackcurrant, berries and invigorating freshness.
Heat and grind size steer the expression: finer and hotter brings more sweetness into the espresso, coarser and calmer lets the fruit shine in filter.

As espresso it turns fruity and lively, with blackcurrant up front. We extract by weight ratio, 1:2 as a starting point – about 18 g of coffee to 36 g of espresso. In filter or pour-over it shows itself at its clearest: zesty berry fruit with a long, fresh finish.
There's no right or wrong here – the coffee has to taste good to you, that's the only thing that counts. And because the bean, the humidity and you yourself change every day, no cup is ever exactly like the last.
For everyone who loves freshness, clarity and complexity – and for the curious looking for a fruity, zesty coffee beyond chocolate and nut. Whether espresso, filter or pour-over: there's room to explore here. You need no prior knowledge.
Light beans want an even grind size. Among the coffee grinders you'll find affordable and precise options like the Varia VS3, while the Varia VS6 offers more room to explore; if you grind by hand, use the Comandante hand grinders.
For filter and pour-over, the brewers from the Hario Collection or the AeroPress – both affordable and versatile; if you want more, you'll find it in the Weber Workshops range, the BIRD. To get the ratio right, a scale helps: compact from the Normcore Collection, with app and flow-rate display from the Acaia Collection.

Blackcurrant (cassis) and berries, clear and zesty, with a light body and a lively acidity.
Both come from the Tero Farm in Guji. Wild Peach is softer and tastes of peach, Bright Cassis is clearer, zestier and tastes of blackcurrant – brighter in expression.
As an omniroast it suits espresso, filter and pour-over. For espresso a weight ratio of 1:2 is a good starting point, about 18 g of coffee to 36 g of espresso.

This bean's roast profile was developed by Yalcin, a certified food chemist with over 15 years of experience in the international aroma industry, most recently as Senior Taste Designer at Philip Morris International. More about his background in our roastery.
From the roastery: Bright Cassis is our liveliest discovery for the curious – light, fruity and zesty. As espresso we start at 1:2 and grind rather fine; in pour-over the blackcurrant note shows at its clearest. If you prefer it more body-forward and chocolatey, reach for Cozy Chocolate, Nutty Delight or Very Nutty among our coffee beans. This is our recommendation, one of many.
