Comandante C60 Baracuda Velvet Steel – hand grinder with 60 mm burr set
Brushed stainless steel that softly reflects the light – heavy, calm, present on the counter. Inside it, the largest burr set Comandante builds, and a cranking feel that carries through. The Velvet Steel is a very limited edition of the C60 Baracuda with a brushed steel finish.
As a partner of Comandante, we carry the grinder, made in Germany. Nobody needs a 60-millimetre burr set – you want it. That decision is legitimate, and that's exactly how we describe it.
What makes the Baracuda special
60 mm burr set, high throughput
The Baracuda conical burr set, made of highly alloyed, nitrogen-rich martensitic stainless steel, pulls the beans through two to three times faster than other hand grinders – with noticeably lighter cranking and even particle distribution.
GX50 Gold Clix
The adjustment runs via a brass dial with an ultra-fine thread: 41.6 micrometres of burr travel per click, around 21 micrometres of change in target particle size. The stepped click locks in cleanly and makes recipes repeatable.
Unibody from a single steel block
Body and axle stabilisation are machined from a single stainless steel block – no micro-vibrations, for maximum consistency. At around one kilogram, the grinder stands solidly and doesn't wander while grinding.
XL handle, Big Joe knob
The long XL handle with a Big Joe knob in European oak sits comfortably in the hand; the brass adjustment dial keeps the grinder free of aluminium.
Grind range and what's included
The grind range spans from coarse for filter and immersion to superfine for espresso and cezve/ibrik – the steel is flavour-neutral, and the geometry is engineered for world-class particle distribution. Included are two BPA-free Tritan polymer containers for the grounds, one clear and one pink, each with a capacity of around 40 grams.

Who it's for
For anyone who grinds by hand and wants speed, smooth running and fine gradation – and who appreciates an object that makes a statement on the counter. With espresso there's no "right" or "wrong": grind size, dose and ratio are the variables you use to hit your taste; 1:2, so around 18 g to about 36 g, is a good starting point. If you prefer something more compact and lighter, take a look at the C40 from our Comandante Collection.
What goes with it
For care and tuning, you'll find containers, knobs and further accessories in our Comandante Collection. For brewing, choose a pour-over dripper from the Hario Collection, the Chemex or the Aeropress. A scale rounds off the workflow – affordable from the Normcore range or with app and flow-rate display from the Acaia Collection. Plus fresh beans from our coffee beans selection.
Experience it live in Bern and Zürich
The weight, the smooth running and the click of the GX50 adjustment come across best in the hand. Come by, and we'll show you the Baracuda in action – bringing your own beans is welcome.
Ordering happens directly online. Delivery throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein typically within 2–4 working days; Click & Collect is available at both locations. Financing is available.
Roastery tip
With this much burr set, a dense, chocolatey-nutty profile is especially rewarding – take Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, 1:2 as a starting point for espresso. If you like maximum body without acidity, try Very Nutty. All our beans are waiting in our coffee beans selection. That's our recommendation, one of many.
