La Marzocco Electronics Box Cover GS3 – the protection over the control unit
Beneath the housing of the GS3, the electronics sit in their own plastic box. This cover closes it off. You never see it as long as the machine is assembled – and that is exactly its job: it keeps splash water, coffee dust and curious fingers away from the control unit.
Covers rarely break on their own. They break when a locking tab snaps off while opening, when they get jammed during reassembly, or when they simply can no longer be found after a service. The part is cheap, but its function is not negotiable: an open electronics box should never be a permanent state in any machine.
When it is due
A locking tab or a rib has broken off and the cover no longer stays in place by itself. The cover is cracked, warped or has a melted spot. It sits loosely instead of closing cleanly. Or it is missing altogether because it was left behind during the last repair – then get one before the machine goes back into daily use.

Important for installation
The cover closes off the compartment housing the control unit – mains voltage is present there. Before any work, the machine must be disconnected from the mains and cooled down, and the replacement belongs in the hands of a qualified technician. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here. Only one thing matters: do not operate the machine with an open or missing cover, not even briefly for testing. The cover is part of the protection against accidental contact.

For service workshops replacing a broken cover after working on a GS3. And for anyone who has taken over a second-hand GS3 and discovers, on their first look under the panels, that the cover is missing.

Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich: When we have a GS3 open, we put the cover and screws in a shallow tray instead of on the workbench. Sounds trivial – but the most common reason a cover goes missing is not breakage, but that it ended up in a cloth during cleanup. This is our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Are the electronics or the box itself included?
No. Only the cover for number F.1.011 is supplied. Neither the control unit nor the lower part of the box is included. We do not sell electronics and electrical assemblies through the online shop – for these, please contact us directly.
May I run the machine without the cover until the new one arrives?
We explicitly advise against it. The cover is part of the protection against accidental contact over an area with mains voltage and also keeps moisture out. Better to leave the machine switched off until then.
Does the cover fit all GS3 years of manufacture?
Number F.1.011 is assigned to the GS3. Over the years, La Marzocco has changed individual plastic parts. Send us the serial number of your machine and we will check the fit before you order.
What are the dimensions of the cover?
Dimensions and material designation are not documented to us for this number. We therefore do not give any figures that we cannot verify.
