Six shallow metal cups side by side, each with a different hole pattern. In them, the same bean becomes something different six times over.
Your choice of basket fundamentally changes the flavour profile. It isn't a fine detail on the margins, but one of the biggest levers you have – and one of the least used.
A basket determines how deep the coffee bed is, how much water can pass through at once and how long the contact lasts. A shallower bed in the single basket lets the water pass through faster and brings more clarity. A deep bed in the double PLUS with around twenty grams creates resistance, extends the contact time and builds body and sweetness.
Behind this is the same physics: different compounds dissolve at different points in the extraction, and pressure shapes that window of time. Change the basket and you shift the window – without touching the grinder.
That's why we always describe extraction by brew ratio. A starting point of 1:2 – twenty grams of coffee to forty grams of espresso – works in every one of these baskets, and the time then sorts itself out. No shot can be replicated, because the bean, the humidity and the person change every day. That isn't a limitation; that's the beauty of it.
The set also includes a pod basket, a blind basket for backflushing and a pressurised basket that still builds crema even with a coarser grind. That way the set covers the full range of the 57 mm group head.

For anyone with a 57 mm machine who wants to get more out of the same bean without buying new hardware. A different basket takes no effort at all and changes the cup noticeably right away.
There's no right or wrong here. The only thing that counts: the coffee has to taste good. Espresso is complex, but it isn't rocket science – let's just enjoy it.
The blind basket is also the part that keeps the machine clean. Backflush daily without detergent and about every fifty shots with detergent – around five minutes.
A basket only shows what it can do with the right grind size. Particle size and uniformity determine the quality of the extraction, and burr sets are like car engines: subjective – there's no single best. For anyone who wants an affordable, precise coffee grinder: the VS3 from the Varia collection. If you want more, you'll find the VS6 there and the EG-1 at Weber Workshops.
If you add a bottomless portafilter at the same time, you'll see with every shot how evenly the basket is working – the selection is under portafilters and bottomless portafilters. And a matching tamper helps with compressing: affordable and precise from Normcore, with more manufacturing depth from Weber Workshops. Our view is one of many.
Six in total: a single basket, a double basket, a double basket PLUS with around 20 grams, a pod basket, a blind basket for backflushing and a pressurised basket.
It's designed for Lelit 57 mm portafilters, i.e. the EM series around Anna and Anita. Machines with a 58 mm group head need different baskets. If you're unsure, send us the item number or the rating plate of your machine at [email protected] – we'll check the fit before you order.
Your choice of basket fundamentally changes the flavour profile. A shallower bed brings more clarity, a deeper one more body and sweetness, because different compounds dissolve at different points in the extraction. As a starting point, we always describe extraction by brew ratio, 1:2 – never by time alone.
For backflushing. Daily without detergent and about every fifty shots with detergent, which takes around five minutes. That keeps the group head and valve clear.
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
2 to 4 working days to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Click and Collect in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon is also possible.
With six baskets, it's worth experiencing the same bean several times. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight from our coffee roastery show plenty of body and chocolate in the deeper bed, and more clarity in the shallower one. Very Nutty brings maximum body without any acidity, and Wild Peach awaits the curious as a discovery, with a fruity peach note. That's our recommendation, one of many – any other bean works too.
