The NECCST Dosing Shaker is a 58 mm dosing cup with a tight-sealing lid. Instead of just carrying the grounds from grinder to portafilter, it turns the lid into a tool: a quick shake breaks up static clumps and loosens the distribution of the grounds. Designed by Eckstein Design in Munich – the same studio behind the NECCST Series 1, winner of the 2026 Red Dot Design Award.

Less channeling
Shaking breaks up static clumps and distributes the grounds more evenly in the basket. Water finds fewer gaps to bypass the coffee through – extraction becomes calmer and more predictable. Static clumps form especially with dry beans and a fine espresso grind; breaking them up is one of the simplest ways to a more even shot. That's our observation, one of many.
A clean handoff from the grinder
Compact enough to fit right under the grind chute. The grounds land in the cup instead of on the counter, keeping the path from grinder to basket clean.

Does shaking really help against channeling?
Shaking breaks up static clumps in the grounds and makes the distribution in the portafilter more even, which reduces the risk of channeling. That's our observation, one of many.
Do I need it in addition to the NECCST Series 1?
The NECCST Series 1 already has a catch cup. The Dosing Shaker is an additional workflow tool – handy if you work with grinders without an integrated catch, or want a handoff step with a shaking action.
