Rocket spring for the steam and water tap – so the valve closes cleanly again
In the steam and water tap of your Rocket, a small spring makes sure the valve body is pushed back into its seat as soon as you let go of the handle. You only notice it indirectly: by the defined point at which the tap closes, and by the fact that nothing drips afterwards.
Springs fatigue, especially on the steam side, where they swing between hot and cold for years. If the spring becomes soft or a coil breaks, the valve closes late or not completely. Because the part costs only a few francs and you are already at the tap for the replacement anyway, it is swapped as a matter of course during every valve overhaul.
When it is due
The tap keeps dripping after closing. The pressure point when turning it closed feels soft or vague. The handle no longer springs back cleanly. When dismantled, the spring shows rust, a broken coil or a visibly shortened length compared with the new one. Or you are overhauling the valve anyway and replacing all wear parts at the same time.

Important for installation
The spring sits in a valve that carries steam and hot water under pressure. Before opening, the machine must be disconnected from the mains, depressurised and cooled down. The replacement belongs in the hands of a qualified technician, and we deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here. Do not force any preload during reassembly – an over-compressed spring does not close better, it just settles faster.

The springs in the Rocket catalogue
We carry seven springs, and their names sound similar enough to mix them up. They are not interchangeable – if in doubt, go by the part number in your service documentation, not by the name.
Four springs without a model series: A209904332 for the steam and water tap – i.e. this product, C219900427 for the coffee brew lever, R299905958 and A999905754. For the last two, our documentation names neither the location nor the machine.
Three springs from the TCA series: A219909449, the steam and water spring on the Appartamento TCA, A219909448, the matching spring support and R019908932, the bushing spring.
For none of these springs does our documentation state wire gauge, length or material. Send us your machine’s serial number and we will check the fit.

Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich: When we dismantle a tap, we lay the old spring next to the new one on a sheet of paper and mark both lengths. A settled spring looks almost the same to the naked eye – but side by side it is often two or three millimetres short. Without this comparison, it is easy to refit the old one and then wonder why. Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on the machine. No, only the spring is supplied. The seal and valve closure are separate items, which we also stock.
