The black housing for the Appartamento – a new outfit for a machine that otherwise still runs
Technically, an Appartamento lasts a very long time. What ages first is the sheet metal: a fall during a move, a dent from the portafilter holder, a corner that suffered in its box during transport. On this machine, the housing is the shell that encloses the internals and gives it its shape – and it can be replaced as a whole without touching the boiler, the brew group or the electrics.
This item is the black version. We list the standard version under its own number; the documentation gives no colour for it – so we don't claim one either. In both cases, the coloured side panel inserts are not part of the housing.
When it's due
Replacing the housing is worthwhile when the machine is technically sound but no longer looks it: deep dents that can't be knocked out; worn-through or chipped paint; rust spots on the bottom edge; or edges bent out of shape after transport damage, so that the front and side panels no longer sit flush. When refurbishing a machine for resale, it is also often the item that makes the biggest difference.

Who it's for
For workshops refurbishing a used Appartamento, and for anyone whose machine still works perfectly after a mishap but has visibly suffered. If you want to switch from the standard version to black, you can also do so with this part – it is the same shell in a different version.
Important for installation
Behind the housing are mains voltage, the boiler and hot water. Replacing it means stripping the machine down to a large extent, so it belongs in the hands of a qualified technician. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here. If you still tackle the replacement yourself: switch off the machine, unplug it, let it cool down completely, release the pressure and empty the water tank before unscrewing anything. Feel free to bring the machine to us in Bern or Zurich and we'll do it for you.
What goes with it
The other parts are in the Rocket Appartamento spare parts section. We list the standard version of the housing as Housing Appartamento. It goes well with the black panel insert and the front panel of the Appartamento TCA.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich
When we replace a housing, we first photograph every screw position and put the screws in labelled bags. During reassembly this not only saves time, it also prevents the classic too-long screw in the wrong place.
And because no repair of ours ends without a tasting: afterwards, an espresso with Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or Very Nutty runs through the group. You'll find the full selection in our coffee beans. This is our own workshop routine, not a manufacturer requirement.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll check the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Are the coloured side panel inserts included?
No. The panel inserts are separate items and are either transferred from the old housing or ordered separately.
Is the front panel included?
No. The front panel, cup tray, handles, logo and screws are separate parts.
How does this item differ from the housing with the number A019905629?
This one is explicitly listed in the documentation as the black version. For the other number no colour is given, so we don't state one there either. The prices differ because the manufacturer prices the versions differently.
Does the housing fit every Appartamento?
The documentation lists the Appartamento without restricting it to a particular generation. Because quite a lot has changed on this machine over the years, we're happy to check the fit using your serial number before you order.
Can I look at the part in a showroom?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
Not sure whether the part fits your machine? Send us the model and serial number at [email protected] and we'll check the fit for you. We deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2-4 working days.
