You insert the Wave filter, choose the sieve, pour – and hear how quickly the coffee flows through. If you change the sieve, the flow rate changes, and with it the taste in the cup. The FLO Dripper puts the flow rate in your hands.
Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer of Varia. The FLO Dripper was created through the collaboration of Varia founder Ramsey Gyde and Yozo Otsuki of Kurasu in Kyoto.
What makes the FLO Dripper special
The FLO Dripper comes with three interchangeable flow sieves – Fast, Medium, and Slow. They determine how quickly the water flows through and thus the contact time: longer contact time brings more body and sweetness, shorter keeps the cup lighter and clearer. Additional sieves are available separately. This way, you don't need to change the grind size to control the flow – you simply change the sieve.
The dripper is made of stainless steel with a food-safe coating and a double-walled construction. The double wall keeps the exterior cool and the brewing temperature stable, all without a separate handle. It accommodates flat-bottomed Wave paper filters and holds 350 ml. Available in several colors – Black, Silver, Rose, and Rainbow.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do the three flow sieves do?
They control the flow rate: Slow extends the contact time for more body and sweetness, Fast keeps the cup lighter and clearer. You change the sieve instead of the grind size.
Which filters fit the FLO Dripper?
Flat-bottomed Wave paper filters. The Varia FLO Fast and Slow papers are designed for this.
Do I need a separate handle?
No. Due to the double-walled design, the exterior remains cool enough to hold the dripper directly.
Can I see the FLO Dripper before purchasing?
We carry Varia products in the showrooms in Bern and Zurich. Please contact us briefly beforehand to ensure the dripper is on site.
Roastery Tip
Start with the Medium sieve and a ratio of around 1:16, i.e., about 15 g of coffee to 240 g of water. If the cup tastes too light, switch to Slow; if it becomes too heavy, switch to Fast. Our Nutty Delight is a grateful start for this, the Cozy Chocolate brings a rich chocolate note to the filter. This is our recommendation, one of many.
