Keeping everything under the GB5X dry that should stay dry
Everything that builds up over the day collects under the drip tray of a GB5X: rinse water from the groups, condensate from the steam, the leftovers from the portafilter. The plastic drain box catches this backflow and channels it into the drain hose. An inconspicuous part that works constantly and yet never draws attention.
It only gets noticed once it leaks. Then the machine base smells sour, of old coffee, the wood under the machine darkens, and at some point a thin puddle forms under one of the feet. The part number F.1.153 is usually clearly legible on the part itself.
When it's due
- Moisture or a dark edge on the counter under the machine.
- A musty smell from the machine base, even though the drip tray and grid are clean.
- The plastic has become brittle or shows hairline cracks.
- A connection spigot has broken off and the drain hose no longer sits securely.

Important for installation
The box sits inside the housing, between water-carrying lines and electrical components. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions for this. Have the replacement carried out by a service technician, or bring the machine to us.

What goes with it

During every service we pull the drip tray all the way out and shine a light into the drain area. Running a cotton swab along the spigot immediately shows whether something has been dripping there for weeks. That is our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. Afterwards we like to calibrate with Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate – find more in our coffee beans.

Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So please check your machine's model, year of manufacture and serial number before ordering – or drop us a quick message and we'll confirm the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Does the box also fit an older GB5?
The number F.1.153 is listed for the GB5X. On an older GB5 the seat may look different. Send us the serial number and we'll check the fit.
Is the drain hose included?
No, the box is supplied on its own. You order the hose and clamps separately.
Can I replace it myself?
We recommend a qualified professional, because the part sits inside the housing next to water-carrying lines and electrics.
How long does delivery take?
