The small screw that holds a control on its spindle

A grub screw has no head. It sits completely inside the component and clamps sideways against a spindle – this is how a knob, a handle or a ring stays on its shaft without a visible screw. M4 × 6 mm is the short stainless steel version, turned with a hex key.

Because it is so small, it often gets lost during servicing or is loosened with force – and then the hex socket is rounded. A stripped grub screw is more annoying than a faulty component, because it can hardly be unscrewed any more.

When it needs replacing

You need a replacement if the hex socket is rounded and the key slips, if the screw got lost during removal, if the thread is stripped, or if a knob or ring slips on its spindle even though it is tightened.

Who it is for

For workshops that want to fit a proper spare part after a service instead of a DIY-store screw, and for anyone who dropped exactly this part on the floor while dismantling and never saw it again.

What goes with it

It goes well with the grub screw M5 × 20 mm with POM tip and the controls it holds, such as the rotary knob KB90 or the steam valve rotary knob Linea PB. Everything else under La Marzocco accessories and spare parts and Original spare parts.

Tip from our workshop

We always insert the hex key dry and all the way in before turning – half inserted, the screw rounds out at the first jolt. And we put loosened grub screws straight into a bowl, not on the workbench. That is our routine from Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer specification. Once the machine is running again, we like Nutty Delight best, Cozy Chocolate for chocolatey notes and Very Nutty for body. All roasts under Coffee beans.

No returns

Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test fitting on the machine. So please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine before ordering – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

How many pieces do I get?

One grub screw. If you need several, simply increase the quantity in the cart.

What size is the screw?

M4 with a length of 6 mm, stainless steel, with hex socket. The part number is I.1.101.

Which component does it sit on?

The part description does not say. Send us the serial number of your machine or the number from your service documents and we will check.

Can I use a screw from the DIY store instead?

We advise against it. Material and length are matched to the clamping point; a screw that is too long damages the spindle.

Can I see the part in the showroom?

Yes, in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can see it in person.
