In a Brew Ratio machine, the machine weighs along while the espresso is running. Directly underneath sits technology that wants nothing to do with milk, coffee oil and rinse water. This plastic cover is the dividing wall between everyday work on the drip tray and the inner workings of the scale.
It is a wear part: it gets grabbed during cleaning, bent, forgotten in the sink. As soon as it has a crack, no longer sits flat or is missing a corner, liquid runs where it doesn't belong – and the scale starts showing unsteady readings.

For bars with Brew Ratio machines where several people clean every day – that's where a part like this reliably breaks sooner or later. It's worth keeping one in the cupboard so the scale doesn't spend a few weeks working without protection.
Directly above it sits the grid with pins for Brew Ratio machines. As drip protection around the scale, there is the plastic drip guard ring. You'll find more accessories under La Marzocco accessories and spare parts and under service parts.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: In the evening, we take the cover out and lay it down to dry instead of throwing it into the sink together with the grid. Plastic that sits in hot water every evening warps – and a warped cover presses on the scale and distorts the weight. This is our routine, not a manufacturer's requirement. To calibrate, we then pull a few shots, usually with Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate, and for more punch in the cup with Very Nutty. More of these under coffee beans.
No returns
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. This is a purely plastic part with no cable, sensor or electronics. We do not sell the load cell itself online.
Take it out and check whether there is moisture underneath or whether it has warped and is resting on the scale. Both throw the display off. If the scale is still unsteady afterwards, the problem lies deeper – then you're better off contacting the service team.
We don't. Hot water and dishwasher detergent work on the plastic until it warps. Wiping it by hand with warm water is enough.
No, only machines with a Brew Ratio scale. Which years of manufacture and models this applies to is not in our documentation – send us the serial number and we'll check it for you.
Yes. At Gerberngasse 44 in Bern and Hagenholzstrasse 50b in Zurich, we're happy to show you the part, ideally with your old one for comparison.
