In operation, a classic steam wand gets so hot that you only touch it with a cloth. The Pro Touch version is built differently inside: the hot tube sits in a second sleeve with an insulating layer in between. On the outside the wand stays noticeably cooler, while on the inside it steams just as powerfully. If you froth milk all day, you will notice the difference by the third hour.
This set with part number 918 is the conversion kit for it – not the wand on its own, but what it takes to convert a Strada that comes with a classic wand from the factory to the Pro Touch version. It is usually bought once in a machine's lifetime, and deliberately so.
It is not a wear part, it is a decision. It becomes due when your team regularly burns their fingers on the wand, when the cloth on the steam tap has become a constant companion, or when an older Strada is up for an overhaul anyway and you want to use the opportunity. If, on the other hand, the existing wand is just leaking, you don't need a conversion kit but gaskets – see below.

The conversion involves a pressurised line that carries steam. The machine must be switched off, unplugged, cooled down and completely depressurised. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here. After the conversion, a leak test under operating pressure is required – that is a job for a qualified technician, and we are happy to do it for you.
For bars with a high share of milk drinks, where the same wand runs for hours, and for operators who want to keep their Strada longer and bring it up to date at the next service. If you only use the machine at home, the classic wand and a cloth are usually good enough.
The counterpart for the GS3 is the Retrofit Kit Pro Touch GS3 (LM938). The wand itself is available separately as a Pro Touch treated steam wand. To reseal an existing Pro Touch wand, use the Service Kit SA210.K. Everything else for the machine is in the section La Marzocco Strada spare parts.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: We prefer to fit kits like this together with the annual service, because the machine is open and depressurised anyway – that saves a second appointment. This is our own routine, not a manufacturer requirement. For the acceptance test we then froth two jugs of milk and pull a cappuccino, usually with Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. If you like more punch in the cup, go for Very Nutty; the full selection is under Coffee beans.
No returns
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will check the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
The scope follows the manufacturer's specification for number 918. We do not have a parts list, and we do not guess the parts. Send us the serial number of your Strada and we will clarify it before you order.
We don't assume so. A conversion kit usually covers one wand. If you want to convert both sides, plan on two sets – we are happy to clarify that in advance too.
No. For the GS3 the number is LM938, here it is 918. The two are not interchangeable.
Probably not. Leaks are fixed with the gasket service kit, not with a conversion kit. Ask us before you order the expensive part.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know in advance and it will be ready for you.
