The Swift Mini grinds and tamps in one go. The Tamper Impeller turns onto the puck and compresses it. To keep this running smoothly without any wobble, a silicone ring sits on the impeller – soft enough to absorb tolerances, firm enough to guide the movement.
La Marzocco lists this ring as a segment O-ring, 3,53 × 37,69 mm in silicone with a hardness of 70 ShA, under part number H.1.032. Silicone ages: it hardens, loses tension and develops fine cracks. At that point the ring is a wear part like any other gasket.
The tamper runs unevenly or with a rattle that wasn’t there before. The pucks come out of the Swift crooked or unevenly compressed. During a service, the ring turns out to be hard, brittle or torn. Or it has worked its way out of its groove – then it needs replacing, not pushing back in.

The ring sits inside the grinder on a driven part. Before any work, the unit is disconnected from the mains and secured against being switched back on – a tamper that starts up while you’re working on it is no joke. You deliberately won’t find step-by-step instructions here: the drive area is opened according to the model’s service documentation.
For service companies maintaining a Swift Mini, and for cafés that keep their Swift in shape themselves and order the wear parts along with the annual service.
Also part of the Swift are the ceramic burrs, the grind adjustment knob and the filter inserts for one cup and two cups. Everything for the grinder under La Marzocco Pico and Swift spare parts.
Bar tip from Bern and Zurich
This is our routine, not a manufacturer specification: when a tamper runs unevenly, we first check whether the puck looks even – a crooked puck shows up faster in the extraction than in the sound. For this we grind two or three passes of Very Nutty, because the Robusta gives a dense, easy-to-read puck. More under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we’ll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
The spare parts list assigns it to the Tamper Impeller of the Swift Mini. The full-size Swift has a separate item. Send us the serial number and we’ll check it for you.
No. Only the ring is supplied. The Tamper Impeller is a separate item.
We advise against it. The spare parts list explicitly specifies a segment O-ring in silicone with 70 ShA. A standard NBR or EPDM ring of the same dimensions behaves differently and is not the same item.
There is no fixed interval we could honestly give – it depends on volume, beans and cleaning. We check it at every major service and replace it as soon as it is hard or cracked.
Yes. We have two locations: Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a line and we’ll have it ready for you.
