The two-cup filter basket for the SWIFT – the standard for service
At the bar, almost everything runs through the two-cup basket: double espresso, cappuccino, flat white. Accordingly, this filter basket is the part that works hardest on a SWIFT – and the one that gets knocked out, rinsed and bumped most often.
It has to match the SWIFT's tamper, otherwise the tamping head won't sit flat and the puck is compressed unevenly. It wears out inconspicuously: first individual holes close up, then the shot runs to one side, and eventually no setting you try on the grinder is right any more.
Descale first, then replace
Before replacing it, it's worth trying to clean it. A filter basket that runs thin and lopsided is usually clogged rather than worn: coffee oils clog the holes, limescale builds up on the inside. An overnight soak in Puly Caff Plus often brings back the full flow, and with hard water, regular descaling is part of the routine. You'll find what you need in the Machine and grinder cleaning section. Only if the basket still looks patchy against the light after cleaning, or the rim is bent, should you replace it.
When it's due
- The shot remains uneven or runs to one side after cleaning.
- Against the light, holes stay permanently closed or are worn out.
- The rim is bent, dented or has burrs.
- The basket sits loose in the portafilter or tilts when tamping.
- The SWIFT's tamper no longer sits flat.

Who it's for
For bars and restaurants with a SWIFT that use the two-cup basket as their workhorse. If you have a high throughput, you're best off with two baskets: one in use, one in the cleaning bath.

From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: We keep a second one of every filter basket in-house and swap them daily: one works, one sits in the cleaning bath. That way, no group is ever in operation with a half-clogged basket, and the difference in the cup is bigger than most people expect. This is our routine, not a manufacturer's requirement. Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. What's the difference from the one-cup basket?
The version and the number. This one is the two-cup basket with L116/A/S, the one-cup basket has L115/A/S. Both are matched to the SWIFT's tamper.
How much coffee fits in it?
Our documentation doesn't state a weight in grams, so we don't give one. The basket is listed as a two-cup version.
Does it fit every La Marzocco portafilter?
It's intended for the SWIFT. Whether it fits your portafilter depends on the version – send us the serial number of your grinder and machine, and we'll check it in advance.
How do I clean it properly?
Coffee oil cleaner, warm water and patience. No wire brush and no needle – if you poke the holes open, you change their diameter, and after that the distribution is never right again.
