In On Demand operation, the portafilter stays hanging in the grinder until the dose arrives. The matching holder takes care of that.

Do I need the holder in Pre Dose mode?
According to Markibar, the holders are intended for On Demand mode, in which the portafilter stays in the grinder while grinding. In Pre Dose mode, the dose is already ground and ready and is dispensed immediately on insertion.
Can I see the product before buying?
