On a commercial machine, the steam wand is the component with the toughest week. It gets grabbed, twisted, wiped, dipped into cold milk and put under full boiler pressure – every few minutes. This item is the steam wand for the Rocket Boxer, part number R219905307.
Wear shows up first at the joint: the wand no longer stays where you put it, or it becomes hard to move. On top of that come the classic milk and scale deposits in the tube, which make the steam jet irregular – and an irregular jet ruins any microfoam texture.
Before you order a new wand: in the vast majority of cases it isn't the wand itself, but what's stuck inside it. Baked-on milk and scale narrow the bore, and the steam comes out sputtering instead of strong. A soak in a suitable cleaner and a thorough descaling surprisingly often bring back the full jet. You'll find the products for this in our Machine and grinder cleaning section. Only if that doesn't help is replacement the right way to go.
Reasons to replace it: a joint that no longer holds its position or has become stiff, a visible kink or dent in the tube, steam leaking at the connection to the machine despite a new gasket, corrosion or pitting, and a tube that can't be cleared even after repeated cleaning.

The wand is connected directly to the steam path. Before replacing it, unplug the machine, let it cool down and fully release the boiler pressure – a machine that is still warm is still under pressure. We deliberately don't give step-by-step instructions here: at the connection to the valve, the tightening torque determines whether it seals, and a damaged thread on the valve body costs more than the wand.
For businesses running a Boxer in continuous use, and for service technicians. If only the foam has got worse, try cleaning first – a new wand won't fix a milk problem that sits in the steam tip.
Wands look confusingly alike and still can't simply be swapped. What matters is which model series it sits on, whether the valve and knob are included, and which number the manufacturer lists for it. We carry nine wands in the Rocket catalogue, in three groups. Because the documentation gives no length, thread size or material for any of them, the part number is the reliable identifier – which is why we always state it.
Appartamento, Mozzafiato, Giotto and Cellini share three items: the complete steam wand for Appartamento, Cellini, Giotto and Mozzafiato (part number R290003611) is the wand without valve, the complete steam wand with valve, without knob, for Appartamento, Mozzafiato and Giotto (part number R299906015) comes with the valve but without the knob, and the complete water wand for Appartamento, Cellini, Giotto and Mozzafiato (part number R290003612) is the water wand for the same series. The last two numbers differ by a single digit – R290003611 versus R290003612 – and refer to two different parts: one for steam, one for hot water.
R58, Porta Via, Boxer and R9V each have their own wand: the complete steam wand for the R58, without steam valve (part number A219904651), the steam wand for the Porta Via (part number A219906168), the steam wand for the Boxer (part number R219905307) – that is, this product – and the complete steam wand for the R9V (part number M219906488). None of these fit across models, even if the tubes look similar.
Without a documented model series, there are two more wands in the catalogue: a complete steam wand (part number A219908566) and a second complete steam wand (part number M219906508). For both, the documentation names no model, only the number. If you have service documentation with one of these numbers in front of you, you're in the right place; if you're searching by machine model, it's better to drop us a quick message.
At the end of a steam wand sits the steam tip, and that's what scales up first – not the wand. We sell them individually: the 1.2 mm steam tip for R58 and R60, the 1.5 mm steam tip for R58 and R60 and the two-hole 1.5 mm steam tip for the Appartamento. Often a descaling bath for the tip is enough, and the wand stays where it is.
If you're not sure which wand is on your machine, send us the serial number and we'll check the fit before you order. With these parts, that's not just a courtesy: original spare parts cannot be returned.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
After every jug, we give a quick purge and wipe the wand immediately, not at the end of the shift. Milk that dries on can only be removed with chemicals; milk that you wipe off straight away never gets that far. That's our routine, not a manufacturer requirement, and it keeps wands like new for years. For cappuccino we like to use Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, and for maximum body Very Nutty. Everything else is in our coffee bean selection.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll work out the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
This is not stated in the documentation. We don't claim a scope of delivery here – if you definitely need a steam tip, drop us a quick message and we'll clarify it before you order.
Length, diameter and material are not specified. The part number R219905307 is what counts.
Usually not. First check the steam tip and tube for milk and scale deposits. Only if cleaning and descaling don't help is it time for the wand itself.
The number is assigned to the Boxer. For other model series, send us the serial number and we'll check the fit.
Yes. We're in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b.
Not sure about the fit? Send the serial number of your machine to [email protected]. We deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2-4 working days.
You order directly through our online shop. If you have questions, we're happy to help — online or in person — with experience from our roastery, cafés and showrooms.
