The wand found in most Rocket kitchens
Appartamento, Cellini, Giotto, Mozzafiato – four machines that look clearly different on the outside yet share the same steam wand. That is handy when you need a replacement: one number, four models. The part number is R290003611.
It is usually needed not because of a sudden defect, but because something builds up over the years. The pipe narrows on the inside, the tip no longer delivers a focused jet of steam, and while trying to loosen a stubborn crust, the thread ends up taking the hit. At that point a new wand is the quicker solution than any further rescue attempt.
Descale first, then replace
An honest note before you order: the most common reason for weak steam is not a broken wand but a clogged tip. Milk protein burns into the holes, and limescale adds to it from the inside. Unscrew the tip, soak it overnight in a suitable product, carefully clear the holes – in many cases that solves the problem. You will find what you need for this in Machine and grinder cleaning. Only when the wand is bent, damaged or permanently blocked is a replacement worthwhile.
When it is due
The wand is due when it can no longer be moved into a usable position because it is bent. When steam escapes at the connection despite a new gasket because the thread has suffered. When, after thorough descaling, only some of the holes still work and the jet pulls to the side. Or when the outer surface is so dull and scratched that milk residue can no longer be wiped off cleanly.

Important for installation
The wand sits on a steam-carrying connection. We deliberately do not publish step-by-step instructions for this: the machine must be depressurised and cooled down, and the connection must be tightened so that it seals, but without force. A stripped thread right at the steam outlet is considerably more expensive than the service call that carries out the replacement properly and then tests it under pressure.

The steam and water wands in the Rocket catalogue
Wands look confusingly alike and still cannot be swapped at will. What matters is which series it sits on, whether the valve and knob are included and which number the manufacturer lists for it. We carry nine wands in the Rocket catalogue, in three groups. Because the documentation gives no length, thread size or material for any of them, the part number is the reliable feature – which is why we always state it.
Appartamento, Mozzafiato, Giotto and Cellini share three items: the complete steam wand for Appartamento, Cellini, Giotto and Mozzafiato (part number R290003611) – that is, this product is the wand without valve, the complete steam wand with valve, without knob, for Appartamento, Mozzafiato and Giotto (part number R299906015) comes with valve but without knob, and the complete water wand for Appartamento, Cellini, Giotto and Mozzafiato (part number R290003612) is the water wand of the same series. The last two numbers differ by a single digit – R290003611 versus R290003612 – and refer to two different parts: one for steam, one for hot water.
R58, Porta Via, Boxer and R9V each have their own wand: the complete steam wand for the R58, without steam valve (part number A219904651), the steam wand for the Porta Via (part number A219906168), the steam wand for the Boxer (part number R219905307) and the complete steam wand for the R9V (part number M219906488). Nothing is interchangeable here, even if the pipes look similar.
Without a documented series, two further wands are listed in the catalogue: a complete steam wand (part number A219908566) and a second complete steam wand (part number M219906508). For both, the documentation names no model, only the number. If you have service documentation with one of these numbers in front of you, you are in the right place; if you are searching by machine model, it is better to drop us a quick line.
At the end of a steam wand sits the tip, and it is the tip that scales up first – not the wand. We carry them individually: the 1.2 mm steam tip for R58 and R60, the 1.5 mm steam tip for R58 and R60 and the two-hole 1.5 mm steam tip for the Appartamento. Often a descaling bath for the tip is enough, and the wand stays where it is.

Our routine from Bern and Zurich – not a manufacturer requirement, but what applies at our counter: purge and wipe while the wand is hot. Whatever does not come off in those five seconds will later only come off with chemicals – and it is exactly those that attack the surface over time. Once a week we soak the tip overnight. Afterwards, a cappuccino as a check: Nutty Delight shows very directly whether the steam comes out dry, Cozy Chocolate is the cosy second, and Very Nutty holds its own even through a lot of milk. No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.

Does it fit my Appartamento with TCA?
On the newer versions, Rocket changed the steam side. Send us the serial number and we will tell you which number fits yours.
Why is the steam wet instead of dry?
Usually the boiler is not yet up to temperature or there is condensation in the line. Purging briefly before frothing solves this. If it stays wet, take a look at the steam valve.
