What makes the heat-resistant pad special
The pad is made from non-slip silicone and built for the Acaia Lunar. Its surface pattern is designed to slow heat transfer between vessel and scale – especially during longer extractions, when a hot vessel sits on the scale for minutes at a time. That protects the sensitive electronics, because temperature affects the weighing beam over time, and with it the accuracy.
The reversible design is practical: on one side, the pad offers a stable, non-slip surface for carafe or cup during pour over. Turned over, it takes the shape of the portafilter and holds it while you dose. It also works well with the Lunar Base, so you can combine both. A pad already comes with every Lunar – a second one in the other colour, or as a spare, is still useful. Whether you need that is up to you; this is just our view, one of many.

If you brew with a hot carafe over an extended time, it shields the scale from heat; if you dose at the portafilter, you simply turn it over. Roastery tip
For pour over, we always leave the pad under the carafe – the scale rewards it with consistent readings over the years. For filter, we like to grind Wild Peach, when it's allowed to be fruity; otherwise we stick with Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight – full-bodied, sweet, dense. If you like it full and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty. This is our recommendation, one of many, and whichever bean tastes right to you is the right one.
