The Ceramic Skerton PLUS is the improved version of the classic Skerton hand grinder. We carry Hario at Coffee Coaching Club.
The ceramic conical burr grinds evenly, stays sharp for a long time, and doesn't heat up the grounds – ideal for filter, French Press, and pour-over. The PLUS version stabilizes the upper burr with an improved holder: This reduces play during rotation and makes the grind more consistent. The collection container is made of glass.
Grinders are subjective – there is no single best. For espresso-fine, very consistent grinding, electric grinders or steel conical hand grinders like the Comandante are usually more consistent. This is our observation, one of many.
| Grinder | Ceramic conical burr |
| Special feature | stabilizing holder for more even grinding |

| Drive | Hand crank |
| Suitability | Filter, French Press, Pour-Over |
| Origin | Hario, Japan |
For anyone who grinds by hand and wants a stable, easy-to-read classic with a glass container – especially for filter and French Press. If you want to grind espresso-fine and very consistently, check out the Comandante or electric coffee grinders.
A brewer like the V60 NEO 02 or an AeroPress, filter paper and a gooseneck kettle from the Hario collection, as well as scales from the Normcore range. Beans like the rounded Nutty Delight or the fruity Wild Peach.
The PLUS version has an improved holder that stabilizes the upper burr. This reduces play during rotation and ensures a more consistent grind.
It is mainly designed for filter, French Press, and pour-over. Espresso-fine, very consistent grinding is achieved more consistently with steel conical or electric grinders.
With the Pro, the grind adjustment is located below the burr and the crank is reinforced. The PLUS is the more affordable option with a stabilized holder.
Grind a bit coarser for French Press, a bit finer for Pour-Over – the ceramic burrs provide a wide, well-controlled range for this. Rounded with Nutty Delight, fruity with Wild Peach. This is our recommendation, one of many.
