CKDC Grounds Cub – stainless steel knock drawer

The CKDC Grounds Cub is a stainless steel knock drawer that sits under your grinder: knock out the puck, close the drawer, and the grinder stands right on top.

It is made by The Coffee Knock Drawer Company in Dublin, Ireland, by hand from 1.2 mm thick 304 stainless steel. We carry it in black (Matt Black) and Mirror, each in 140 × 240 × 55 mm and 200 × 300 × 55 mm.

    Features of the Grounds Cub

CKDC Grounds Cub black with open drawer and knock bar – Coffee Coaching Club

    Carries the whole grinder

According to the manufacturer, the 1.2 mm 304 stainless steel housing does not bend even under the weight of heavy grinders. Every grinder foot stands on a wide, flat surface.

    Triangular knock bar

The reinforced knock bar is covered in EPDM rubber and dampens every knock to a dull, controlled sound. The manufacturer estimates its lifespan at around 250,000 knocks, after which the bar is replaced.

    Quiet runners, steady feet

The drawer glides on nylon runners, with no steel rubbing on steel. Recessed rubber feet keep the unit firmly in place on the counter.

    Ventilation slots in the lid

Carefully placed slots in the lid let steam escape while the pucks cool down. This reduces moisture in the drawer, which would otherwise lead to mould.

    Integrated handle

The handle is built into the front, with no separate part sticking out. This keeps the lines clean and saves space where things are tight.

    Does your grinder fit?

What counts is the grinder's feet, not its housing: measure once from the outer edge of the left foot to the outer edge of the right foot, and once from the front edge of the front feet to the rear edge of the rear feet. Every foot must stand fully on the lid surface.

    Two sizes

We carry the Grounds Cub in 140 × 240 × 55 mm and 200 × 300 × 55 mm. Which one fits depends on the foot spacing of your grinder.

    Who it's made for

For everyone who works with a portafilter, at home or in a small café, and wants to collect the coffee grounds right under the grinder. The Grounds Cub replaces the separate knock box on the counter. You'll find other shapes among our knock boxes and knock drawers.

You can see selected models live in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Our opinion is one of many.

    What goes with it

A grinder belongs on top of the drawer. For everyone who wants a grinder that is affordable and precise: the VS3 from Varia or a hand grinder from Comandante. If you want more: the VS6 from Varia or the EG-1 from Weber Workshops. All models are in our coffee grinders.

For puck prep: for everyone who wants an affordable and precise tamper and puck screen, there is the Normcore collection. If you want more: Weber Workshops. You'll find the right machine in our espresso machines, and our advice tool helps you choose.

    Frequently asked questions

What does the triangular knock bar do?

The reinforced bar is covered in EPDM rubber and dampens the knock to a dull sound. CKDC estimates its lifespan at around 250,000 knocks, after which it can be replaced.

Does my grinder fit on the Grounds Cub?

Measure the grinder's feet, not its housing: from outer edge to outer edge left and right, and from the front edge of the front feet to the rear edge of the rear feet. Every foot must stand fully on the lid surface.

    Which size do I need?

We carry 140 × 240 × 55 mm and 200 × 300 × 55 mm. What matters is that all feet of your grinder stand on the lid surface. If in doubt, a short email to [email protected] helps.

What material is it made of?

The housing is 1.2 mm 304 stainless steel, the runners are nylon, the feet are rubber, and the knock bar is covered in EPDM rubber.

Can I see the Grounds Cub before buying?

Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.

Tip from the roastery: For a full-bodied, chocolatey cup, there are Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight. For maximum body with no acidity, the Very Nutty; for a fruity profile as a complement, the Wild Peach. That is our recommendation, one of many.
