Right-hand housing edge of the KB90 – closed again, easy to wipe again
On the right-hand side of the KB90, a narrow plastic profile covers the joint between the metal panels. It doesn’t bear any load and doesn’t seal anything, but it decides whether coffee grounds build up along the edge or whether the cloth glides through in one go.
A profile like this always breaks the same way: it gets levered off when a side panel is removed, a locking tab breaks, and after that it sticks out a little further with every cleaning. That’s when it’s time for a new one – glue won’t hold in this spot.
When it’s due
- The profile sticks out and no longer clicks into place.
- A tab or fastening is broken.
- The plastic is cracked or has become brittle from steam.
- Coffee grounds are lodged in the open joint and can no longer be removed.
- The part has been missing since the last service.

Who it’s for
For KB90 businesses that care about how the machine looks in the dining area, and for technicians who don’t want to leave an open edge behind after a panel change.
What goes with it
The counterpart is the left-hand plastic profile. Above it sits the KB90 2-group group cover, and for the locking mechanism there is the brass bushing 8 x 8 x 4,2 mm. You’ll find an overview in the La Marzocco KB90 spare parts section.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: When removing the profiles, we mark with masking tape which one comes from which side. Left and right look almost identical, and if you mix them up, you’ll keep pushing until a tab breaks. That’s our routine, not a manufacturer’s requirement. To finish, we run an espresso through, usually with Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate, occasionally with Very Nutty. More choice in our coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before you order, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we’ll work out the fit together. This does not affect your rights in the case of defective goods.
Frequently asked questions
Right as seen from where?
From the barista’s point of view, looking at the machine from the front. If in doubt, send us a photo of the spot.
What’s the difference from the left-hand profile?
The shape is mirrored. This one has the number C.2.049.DX, the left one C.2.049.SX. They can’t be swapped.
Are screws included?
No, only the profile is supplied.
Can I replace it myself?
It’s an external part, not a pressure or electrical part. Still, disconnect the machine from the mains before working on housing parts, and remove the old profile carefully.
Can I see the part in person at your premises?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
