Rocket R Cinquantotto logo back panel – the clean panel for the side that faces the wall
The back panel of the R Cinquantotto is a metal sheet with an embossed Rocket lettering, and in everyday use it gets the least attention of all the outer parts. That is exactly why it most readily shows what the machine has been through: steam rising up the wall, screwdrivers at every service, a move across the counter.
As soon as the machine stands freely in the room, on an island or with its back facing the guest area, the overlooked panel suddenly becomes a visible side. Then every dent and every scratch stands out.
When it's due
Warped corners, torn-out screw holes, a film of rust around the fixing points or lettering that has turned dull from cleaning agents – these are the usual reasons. Then there is the classic after a repair: the back panel has already been off twice, and the third time it no longer sits free of tension and rattles during operation.
A warped panel is more than a cosmetic flaw. The back panel closes off the housing, and behind it lie the boiler and the electrics. It belongs firmly screwed in place, sealing properly.

Important for installation
Behind the back panel lie the machine's boiler and electrics. That is why we deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions, but recommend installation by a professional – or at the very least: unplug the machine, let it cool down completely, release the pressure, and only then loosen the screws.
If you do the screwing yourself, tighten the screws crosswise and by hand. A panel that is tightened at one corner first becomes distorted – and then even the new one will not sit flush.

From our workshop
When an R Cinquantotto is on the bench with us in Zurich, we photograph the back panel before unscrewing it – with all the cable ties and hose routings in the picture. Every time, that saves a quarter of an hour of searching during reassembly. Our own routine, not the manufacturer's instruction.
And before the new panel goes on: wipe the sealing surfaces and the housing edges once with a dry cloth. Limescale crumbs under the panel are the reason a new panel sometimes still does not sit flush.

Returns excluded
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for your order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together.
