Rocket valve closure for steam and water tap – when the gasket alone is no longer enough
Sometimes the tap keeps dripping even though the gasket is new. Then the problem is not in the rubber but in the part that holds it: over the years the closure has developed scoring, the sealing surface is no longer flat, and every new gasket gets squeezed unevenly on it again.
This closure is the original from Rocket for the R58 and the GB5. The gasket is already included, so you replace both in one go.
When it is due
When the tap still drips after a gasket change. When the sealing surface is visibly worn, scaled or worn out. Or when the tap can only be closed with considerable effort – a sign that the mechanism no longer seats cleanly.

Who it is for
For anyone who has already tackled the dripping tap with a new gasket and found that this did not solve it. And for anyone who wants to put an older machine properly in order straight away.
What goes with it
If only the rubber has hardened, the Rocket gasket for steam and water tap on its own is enough. To stop limescale from building up in the first place, the cleaning range for machine and grinder helps, especially the descaling pad for the water tank. Everything else under Rocket accessories and spare parts.
Tip from our café
Our sequence in the workshop: first replace the gasket, let the machine run for a day, and only if it still drips then does the closure get replaced. In about half of all cases this saves you the more expensive part. This is our experience from Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer specification. To fine-tune the shot afterwards, we use Nutty Delight as a reference, Cozy Chocolate for chocolatey notes and Very Nutty for maximum body. All roasts under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we will check the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Is the gasket included?
Yes. The closure comes with the matching gasket, you do not need it separately.
Isn't the gasket alone enough?
Often it is – and that is also the cheaper first attempt. The closure is due when the sealing surface itself is worn and every new gasket starts leaking again after a short time.
Do I need tools?
Yes, a suitable spanner. If you are unsure, we will do the replacement in our workshop.
Does the part fit an Appartamento or Giotto?
It is listed for the R58 and the GB5. For other Rocket models we stock other parts – write to us and tell us which model you use.
Do I need one per tap?
Yes. If you have separate steam and hot water taps, you need two.
