Acaia X La Marzocco Connected Scale – Brew-by-Weight for the Linea Mini
The paddle moves forward, the scale tares and starts the timer. At the target weight the Linea Mini stops the shot by itself. No glancing at the display, no button to press at the right moment.
The Connected Scale was developed jointly by Acaia and La Marzocco. It runs La Marzocco-specific firmware and is set up via the La Marzocco Home app. A prediction algorithm accounts for the drips that still fall into the cup after the stop. What counts is the weight in the cup, not the reading on the display at the moment of the stop.
What the Connected Scale does
Brew-by-weight works on the Linea Mini and the Linea Mini R. Grind-by-weight works with the La Marzocco Pico and Swan grinders: grinding stops at the set weight. In the app you store two target doses; alternatively there is a free-flow mode. Tare and timer start automatically when you brew.
The machine must be online and run current firmware (v1.0rc7 or newer). Depending on the year of manufacture, older Linea Minis need a Gateway or IoT kit installed by a technician. The Connected Scale does not work with the Linea Micra or the GS3.
We brew espresso by weight ratio, 1:2 as a starting point, never by time alone. No two shots are the same, because beans, humidity and your own day change. The scale does the measuring, taste decides. Our opinion is one of many.

Who it is made for
For everyone with a Linea Mini or Linea Mini R who wants brew-by-weight built into the machine workflow. The Acaia X ships ready for the La Marzocco system; no additional licence is needed.
If you already own an Acaia Lunar with USB-C (serial number from AL008): since March 2026 there is a paid upgrade to the same Connected Scale functions, purchased via the Acaia Updater app. The Lunar comes in several colours and also works with other machines. Does the Acaia X La Marzocco work with any espresso machine?
No. Brew-by-weight works on the La Marzocco Linea Mini and the Linea Mini R, grind-by-weight with the Pico and Swan grinders. The scale does not work with the Linea Micra or the GS3.
What does my Linea Mini need for brew-by-weight?
