Weber Workshops Spring Clean – Patented Backflush Tool for 58mm E61 Machines
Backflushing is important – but so annoying that you constantly put it off?
Everyone knows: espresso machines need regular backflushing to remove coffee oils from the brew group. But the procedure with a blind basket and repeatedly turning the machine on/off is cumbersome. The Spring Clean from Weber Workshops turns this into a single process: you lock it in, start the shot, and the spring-loaded reservoir collects 200 ml of water and powerfully flushes it back through the brew pipe and 3-way valve. 20 times more water volume than a normal backflush.
Why at Coffee Coaching Club?
As the official Swiss dealer for Weber Workshops, we have the Spring Clean in both versions in stock. In our showrooms, we'd be happy to show you how the mechanism works.
How the Spring Clean works
Spring Mechanism: The Spring Clean loads like a piston. The brew water fills the 200 ml reservoir; when you stop the shot, the spring pushes the entire volume back through the brew group, the 3-way valve, and into the drip tray. A backflush cycle with 20× more water than conventional methods.
Two Versions: Stainless Steel (cast + milled, Viton™ seals, replaceable) and Transparent/Polymer (food-safe BPA/PFOA-free polymer, silicone piston, integrated stainless steel safety valve at 1 bar). With the transparent model, you can watch the cleaning process live.
Detergent Compatible: Cafiza, Joe Glo, Urnex, baking soda – all no problem. One cycle with cleaner, rinse, one cycle with clear water – done.
Ideal for Single-Origin Switchers: If you're brewing different beans consecutively, a quick Spring-Clean pass eliminates residual oils from the previous coffee. No more "cross-talk" – no traces of Pacamara in your Gesha.
Compatibility: All 58mm machines with a 3-way valve (E61, La Marzocco, Slayer, Synesso, Rocket, ECM, Profitec etc.).
Coffee Coaching Club Tip: Why Rancid Oils Destroy Your Flavors
Coffee oils oxidize. Residues in the brew group, shower screen, and the channels of the 3-way valve turn rancid – and release a subtle bitterness with every shot that has nothing to do with your coffee. Especially chlorogenic acid and its degradation products (quinic acid, caffeic acid) react with oxidized fat to form compounds that make your shot taste dull and flat. A daily Spring Clean keeps these channels clean – and your coffee tastes exactly as the roaster intended.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Weber Spring Clean
Does the Spring Clean fit my machine?
It fits all 58mm machines with a 3-way valve – this includes most E61 machines as well as La Marzocco, Slayer, Synesso, Rocket, ECM, Profitec, and many others. Not compatible with machines without a 3-way valve (e.g., some single-boiler models).
What is the difference between the stainless steel and transparent versions?
Functionally identical. The stainless steel version is more robust (cast + milled, Viton™ seals). The transparent version, made of food-safe polymer, allows you to observe the cleaning process live and has an integrated stainless steel safety valve at 1 bar.
Can I use regular backflush cleaner?
Yes – Cafiza, Joe Glo, Urnex, Puly Caff, or baking soda all work. One cycle with cleaner, rinse, then one cycle with clear water.
How often should I use the Spring Clean?
Ideally daily or whenever you switch beans. A quick pass takes less than 30 seconds and prevents rancid coffee oils from accumulating in the brew group.
Does the Spring Clean replace regular maintenance by a technician?
No, but it significantly reduces the frequency. The Spring Clean cleans the brew group and the 3-way valve – seals, pump, and boiler still require professional maintenance according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
