One wipe over the steam wand while it's still warm, and the stainless steel looks as if milk had never touched it.
Microfibre works through surface area. The fibres are so fine that they pick up milk residue, water and dirt instead of spreading them around – without chemical additives and without streaks on the stainless steel. That's exactly why they're the tool of choice at the machine, rather than kitchen paper off the roll.
Timing does the rest. Milk that's still warm comes off in one movement; dried-on milk takes patience. If you get into the habit of giving the wand a quick wipe and a purge straight after frothing, you save yourself everything else later.
Profitec supplies the cloths in dark blue and grey and has sewn magnets into them so they stick to the stainless steel housing. That way they hang where you need them instead of lying somewhere on the counter. For most machines, this goes together with the daily backflush without detergent, and with detergent about every fifty shots – done in around five minutes. That's our routine, and our opinion is one of many.

For anyone who froths milk and wants a clean wand afterwards. For anyone whose machine has a stainless steel housing that shows every fingerprint. And for anyone who likes things tidy without having to build a system for it: magnet on, done.
Care is the part of the espresso craft with the best ratio of effort to effect, and it doesn't depend on what the machine cost. No budget is merely a starting point. More cleaning agents and tools are under machine and grinder cleaning.
Where there's milk, there's a pitcher. For anyone who wants an affordable, precise pitcher: the pitchers from our Normcore collection. If you want more, you'll find the pitchers from Rhino and from the Weber Workshops collection. They sit side by side in our milk pitchers.
And if you're looking at your setup anyway: the machine in front of you decides more about the character of your cup than any accessory. In our experience, a saturated group delivers a more refined aroma profile than an E61, regardless of the heating system – and others see it differently. The selection is in our coffee machines.
High-quality, hard-wearing microfibre. The fibres absorb milk residue, water and dirt and clean without lint or streaks, entirely without chemical additives.
Profitec supplies them in dark blue and grey. Many people split them up in everyday use: one for the steam wand, one for the housing and portafilter.
With sewn-in magnets. They stick to the machine's stainless steel housing and are within easy reach, without any hook having to be fitted.
For the espresso machine, the steam wand and the portafilters. The steam wand is best wiped while it's still warm – milk comes off much more easily then.

We roast ourselves, so we'll say it openly: the difference between two shots often comes from the bag, not from the tool. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight are our main recommendation for dense, sweet, full-bodied cups. Very Nutty goes even further towards body, entirely without acidity.
If you want to discover something fruity, Wild Peach is ready for you. That's our recommendation, one of many. Other beans work just as well, including the ones from the shelf around the corner.
