Acaia Orion Nano – Automatic Bean Doser with Orion's Belt
You turn the dial, select your target weight, and the beans trickle into the cup – a soft, steady flow that stops automatically once the correct gram amount is reached. No refilling, no counting, no looking at a second scale. Just the cup in your hand and a weight that is the same every time.
It's the moment before grinding when consistency is created – and the Orion Nano makes it quiet, fast, and repeatable.
What makes the Acaia Orion Nano special
The Orion Nano dispenses your whole beans by weight before they go into the grinder. This sounds insignificant, but it's where a lot of inconsistency disappears: beans are never consistently dense, so a volumetric measure can easily be deceiving. Weight, however, does not lie. To within about 0.25 grams – about one to three beans – the Nano dispenses your single dose, at a speed of two grams per second. A patented auger gently moves the beans without damaging them.
You select stored target weights using the rotary dial, and an automatic mode continuously dispenses cup after cup. The intelligent system learns: it compares target and actual weight and fine-tunes itself over time. The Nano thus follows the idea that is dear to our hearts anyway – extraction begins with the ratio, and an espresso, for example, at a 1:2 ratio, depends on the input quantity being correct. No shot is like yesterday's, because the bean, humidity, and you yourself change daily; a constant dose at least takes one variable out of the equation.
Its trick is Orion's Belt: This connection allows you to link several Orion Nanos to create a small blending station. You define ratios, combine beans, create your own blends – a playground for experimentation that makes as much sense in cupping as it does behind the coffee bar. The Nano adopts the award-winning technology of the larger Orion but shrinks it to a footprint that takes up hardly any space.
Do you need something like this? Honestly, nobody needs it. A scale and a steady hand will do. The Nano is for those who love the process – the turning, the steady trickle, the freedom to create blends. You either want it or you don't, and both are perfectly fine. This is just our view, one of many.

Who the Orion Nano is made for
The Orion Nano is for anyone who likes to dose their beans to the exact gram – in the coffee bar, in the roastery for cupping, or at home with a single-dose grinder. It takes away the need to weigh by hand before each shot and ensures that each dose is consistent. Those who play with blends will find their own small laboratory via Orion's Belt. And those who simply want to consistently fill one cup after another don't have to press a single button in automatic mode. Every path is welcome with us.
What goes with it
A doser makes sense in conjunction with the rest. Directly after dosing comes grinding – in our coffee grinders you will find single-dose models that harmonize perfectly with the Nano. The entire Orion cosmos and other precision tools are shown in our Acaia Collection.
When weighing in the cup: If you want compact and affordable measurement, the Normcore Collection is a good choice; if you are looking for the app, flow rate, and the full experience, stay with Acaia. Unsure what suits your setup? Our consultation tool will help.
Frequently asked questions about the Acaia Orion Nano
What does a bean doser like the Orion Nano do?
It dispenses your whole coffee beans by weight before they go into the grinder. Instead of weighing by hand before each shot, you select your target weight on the dial, and the Nano fills your cup to within about 0.25 g accuracy. This makes every single dose consistent – ideal for consistent results.
How does the Orion Nano differ from the Orion and Orion Mini?
The original Orion and Orion Mini are larger and designed for high throughput at the bar. The Nano is the most compact version with a 500 g capacity, an accuracy of ± 0.25 g, and the Orion's Belt function for linking multiple devices. Which one fits depends on space and quantity – all from the Orion series can be found in our Acaia Collection.
What is Orion's Belt?
A connection function that allows you to link multiple Orion Nanos. This creates a small blending station: You define ratios and create your own blends. For anyone who wants to experiment with beans and flavors, this is a logical playground.

Roastery Tip
When we set up doses on the Orion Nano, we prefer to grind beans with body and sweetness – our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight beautifully demonstrate how quietly a consistent dose falls into the cup. If you like it full and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty. And for a fruity experiment – especially when blending via Orion's Belt – Wild Peach is a great addition. This is our recommendation, one of many, and every bean you enjoy is the right one.
