Mazzer Mini G – 64mm Espresso Grinder with Grind-by-Weight
You weigh 18 grams into the hopper. You press the button. The TFT display shows the real-time weight, the asynchronous motor pulls smoothly, the 64mm 233M burrs operate at 1400 revolutions per minute. The ground coffee falls directly into the 58mm portafilter or into the magnetically held stainless steel cup. At 18.0 grams, the grinder stops automatically – accurate to a hundredth of a gram, measured by the professional load cell in the portafilter holder. You adjust the grind one click finer – the Vibration Filtering Algorithm compensates for any vibration, the system automatically adjusts the dosing time, the target weight remains 18.0 grams. No manual weighing, no readjustment, no guesswork.
The Mazzer Mini G is the Grind-by-Weight variant of the Mazzer Mini, re-released in 2026 – a grinder whose original appeared in 1995 and has since stood in countless cafés. In the current version with an in-house asynchronous motor (around 50 percent faster than its predecessor), 64mm Mazzer burrs in two taste profiles, and an integrated load cell located directly under the portafilter holder. Coffee Coaching Club is a partner of Mazzer and will carry the Mini G from its current lineup upon availability.
Grind-by-Weight – why 0.1 grams decide the shot
For a standard espresso dose of 18 grams, a deviation of 0.5 grams changes the weight ratio by almost 3 percent. That's enough to throw a balanced shot off balance – with a 1:2 extraction, 0.5 grams too much or too little is the difference between "that's it" and "something's not right." Those who work with time-based dosing compensate for this with routine, weighing before and after grinding, and manual adjustment. The Mini G removes this step from the workflow.
The load cell sits directly in the portafilter holder and measures with an accuracy of one-hundredth of a gram – programmed doses are dispensed with an accuracy of ±0.1 grams. Three doses can be stored on the TFT display (by weight or by time). If you change the grind size, the system automatically adjusts the grind time so that the target weight is maintained. No readjustment of the stored dose after each bean change, no manual intervention. The Vibration Filtering Algorithm keeps the load cell stable even if someone knocks the portafilter next to the grinder – a detail that makes the difference between "works in theory" and "works in the bar" in daily café operations.
64mm Mazzer Burrs in two flavor profiles
The Mini G comes standard with Mazzer 233M tool steel burrs. These 64mm flat burrs have the same geometry used in many Mazzer Kony models – a classic espresso profile with balanced extraction, silky texture, pleasant acidity, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. Particularly good for medium to dark roasts and milk drinks, as the aroma density carries through the milk.
Optionally available are the ZZ burrs (K202P) made of special steel – Mazzer's "Next Generation" geometry focusing on sweet, delicate extraction, silky texture, and medium body. The K202P are particularly interesting for light roasts, single origins, and fruity profiles – they balance acidity and emphasize sweetness, and dialing in is subjectively a bit easier than with the 233M. Both sets of burrs are manufactured in-house in Scorzè near Venice; the surface treatment ensures that the burrs work stably right out of the box – only the first 50 grams of ground coffee should not be used for brewing.
Important: Mazzer expressly recommends using only in-house burrs (233M or K202P) on the Mini G. Third-party burrs – even from other manufacturers like SSP – are not approved because they can change the behavior of the motor, retention, vibration, static, and burr parallelism. So, those who want to switch between different flavor profiles should stay within the Mazzer ecosystem.
Mazzer since 1948 – the construction behind it
Mazzer has been building coffee grinders since 1948 in Scorzè near Venice – a three-generation family business that develops and manufactures grinding mechanisms and burrs completely in-house. The Mini G's housing is die-cast aluminum, and the asynchronous motor (350W) is designed for longevity – Mazzer grinders from the 1990s are still working in cafés today. The stepless micrometric grind adjustment has been a Mazzer standard for decades. The load cell builds on this standard at a modern level without changing the design logic that makes these grinders so durable.
Workflow – TFT Display, Hands-Free, Anti-Static
The TFT display shows the real-time weight of the current dose, three programmable doses (by weight or time), daily grind statistics, burr wear indicator, and service alerts. 19 languages are adjustable. The Mini G can be activated either by portafilter pressure or by a magnetic stainless steel cup (30g capacity, ⌀58mm compatible) – hands-free grinding for those who want to work on other preparation steps simultaneously. The adjustable portafilter holder centers the coffee stream in the basket. The anti-static system keeps the work surface clean.

Who is the Mini G for
The Mini G is for anyone who pulls multiple shots daily and wants a reliable hopper grinder with Grind-by-Weight, without investing in a commercial grinder with a larger footprint. Small cafés and coffee carts where consistency is more important than maximum throughput. Home setups where multiple people use the grinder and no one wants to manually weigh before every shot. Specialty bars looking for a second grinder for single origins or daily specials.
The Mini G is not for everyone. If you're looking for maximum freshness per shot with frequent bean changes, the Mazzer Philos offers the single-dose variant with 0.1 g retention. If you want a pure single-dose grinder without a hopper and with higher grinding precision: Varia VS6 (exclusive Swiss importer) with variable RPM and interchangeable burrs. If you want 80mm flat burrs at flagship level: Weber Workshops EG-1 (exclusive Swiss importer). The Mini G has a different focus – consistency in hopper mode over many shots, with the reliability of Mazzer construction quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the load cell of the Mini G?
The load cell measures to one hundredth of a gram (0.01 g), and dose output is with ±0.1 g accuracy. For an 18 g target dose, this means a deviation of typically 0.05 to 0.10 g – within what is below the perception threshold of a 1:2 extraction. The Vibration Filtering Algorithm keeps the load cell stable even with vibrations on the counter.
What happens if I change the grind size?
In Grind-by-Weight mode, the system automatically adjusts the grinding time so that the target weight (e.g., 18 g) is maintained. No manual readjustment is necessary. This is one of the central workflow advantages of the Mini G compared to time-based grinders.
Which burrs for which coffee?
Mazzer 233M (ex works): classic espresso profile with balanced extraction, silky texture, and good body – ideal for medium to dark roasts and milk drinks. Mazzer K202P (ZZ-Burrs, optional): sweet, delicate extraction with silky texture and medium body – ideal for light roasts, single origins, and fruity profiles. Both burrs are 64mm flat, manufactured by Mazzer. Third-party burrs are expressly not approved by Mazzer.
What is the retention in hopper mode?
Around 8 grams in hopper mode (grind chamber and chute combined). When changing grind size, these 8 grams must be purged before the new setting shows in the cup. In single-dose mode (beans directly into the funnel, without hopper supply), retention reduces to about 0.1 grams after the first 3 doses. For maximum freshness per shot with frequent bean changes, the single-dose grinder Mazzer Philos is a better choice.
What does Hands-Free Grinding with the Dosing Cup mean?
Instead of pressing the portafilter against the grinder (manual activation), the magnetically held stainless steel cup (30 g capacity) is placed under the spout – attaching it automatically activates the grinder. This allows you to perform other preparation steps simultaneously while grinding. The Dosing Cup is included in the scope of delivery.
How loud is the Mini G?
Comparatively quiet thanks to the direct drive shaft (no belt) and the heavy aluminum housing, which dampens vibrations. In the showroom, the Mini G runs continuously without disturbing conversations.
Can I see the Mini G before buying?
Yes. As soon as the 2026 Mini G has arrived, it will be available in the showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Load cell and hands-free workflow cannot be conveyed through data sheets. Bringing your own beans is welcome.
How fast is the Mini G delivered in Switzerland?
2 to 4 working days throughout Switzerland and Liechtenstein, once the model is available from stock. Click and Collect in Bern and Zurich. Financing through Heylight is possible.
Where can I buy the Mazzer Mini G in Switzerland?

Roaster's Tip
The Mini G is the grinder you fill in hopper mode in the morning and then don't have to touch all day. When we use it in the showroom with the 233M burrs: Cozy Chocolate brings that dense chocolate depth that stands out in espresso and becomes a warm, round composition with milk in a cappuccino. Nutty Delight with milk is a reliable companion on the Mini G – nutty, velvety, with the body that the 233M geometry delivers. Very Nutty for those who want maximum body without acidity feels particularly at home on the 233M. If you want to discover a brighter profile and upgrade to the K202P burrs: Wild Peach – the peach note becomes clearer, the sweetness comes forward. This is our recommendation, one of many.
