Puly Caff Plus cleaning powder 370 g – the half teaspoon that saves your espresso

Put in the blind basket, add half a teaspoon of powder, start the cleaning programme. The first water that runs out of the group afterwards is brown, the second lighter, the third clear – and the next morning your espresso tastes of coffee again instead of old grease.

Coffee oils build up in the brew group, shower screen and valves. They go rancid long before you can see them. Puly Caff Plus dissolves exactly these residues – and it is NSF-certified, meaning it has been tested for use on equipment that comes into contact with food.

How to use it

To backflush the brew group, put half a teaspoon of powder into the blind basket, then run the machine's cleaning programme. Rinse thoroughly afterwards. The powder is also suitable for soaking portafilters, filter baskets and spouts in warm water.

Who it's for

For any machine with a three-way valve that can be backflushed – once a week at home, daily at closing time in a café. The 370-gram tin lasts accordingly.

What goes with it

To backflush, you need a blind basket. If you prefer the green line, you'll find it as Puly Caff Verde. The brand's full range is under Puly Caff, and everything else under machine and grinder cleaning.

Tip from our café

From our experience behind the counter in Bern, less is more: half a teaspoon really is enough, and afterwards we always run an extra rinse cycle without powder. The first espresso after cleaning always goes down the drain – that's our house rule, not a manufacturer instruction. To dial in again afterwards, we use Nutty Delight, for chocolatey notes Cozy Chocolate and for maximum body Very Nutty. All our roasts are under coffee beans.

Frequently asked questions

How much powder do I need per cycle?

Half a teaspoon in the blind basket. Then run the cleaning programme and rinse thoroughly.

Can I also soak portafilters in it?

Yes. Portafilters, filter baskets and spouts can be soaked in warm water with Puly Caff Plus. Rinse thoroughly afterwards.

What's the difference from the Verde line?

Both clean the same parts. Plus and Verde are two product lines from Puly – we stock both so you can stay with the line you're used to.

Do I need a blind basket?

For backflushing, yes. Without a blind basket, the water runs out through the portafilter instead of building up pressure in the group.

Is the powder safe?

It is made from food-safe ingredients and is NSF-certified. It carries the H319 label – causes serious eye irritation – so avoid contact with the eyes and rinse carefully after cleaning.
