An Auto-Tamper depends on repeatability. Every puck gets the same pressure, every day, hundreds of times over. This movement is transmitted mechanically inside the unit – and gears are precisely the parts that pass on the force.
If a tooth breaks off or the gear teeth are worn, this doesn't show up as a total failure but as unsteadiness: the tamper judders, gets louder, or the movement briefly stops. The gear is an inexpensive single part that fixes this.
When the Auto-Tamper audibly catches, clicks or stalls. When you see broken or flattened teeth on opening it. When there are plastic shavings inside. And when the service document lists exactly the part number RIC-TPA.7700-024.

The gear sits inside the unit. The Auto-Tamper is opened for the replacement and disconnected from the mains beforehand. We recommend fitting by a qualified professional – on request, we can do it in our workshop.
For businesses that run an Auto-Tamper in continuous use, and for anyone who likes to do the work themselves and would rather repair a device than replace it. A gear for a few francs often saves an entire assembly.
The TPA Rack and the felt for the Auto-Tamper belong to the same assembly. We carry the complete device as the automatic tamper for the Atom. You can find more parts under Eureka and under Coffee grinder accessories and spare parts.
When a gear is worn, we always check the mating part too. A new gear running against damaged teeth won't last a season. That's our routine in Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer requirement. For dialling in afterwards we use Nutty Delight, for chocolatey notes Cozy Chocolate and for body Very Nutty. All roasts under Coffee beans.
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a device. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll clarify compatibility together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
It belongs to the TPA series. Send us the serial number of your device and we'll check compatibility before you order.
Yes, this item is a single part. If you need several, simply order the quantity you need.
Only use lubricants approved for food areas. If in doubt, ask us first.
A worn gear makes a regular click with each revolution. If you're unsure, take a look at the device together with us.
