The small cap that makes the group head smooth again
On the group head of the GS3 MP and the Strada AV there is a screw that disappears under a plastic cap. The cap doesn't hold anything together – it closes the opening so that no coffee grounds or cleaning water run in there and the group head looks as if it were made in one piece.
If you have ever taken the group apart, you know the problem: the cap flies off when you lever it out or breaks at the edge. After that, the screw is left exposed and collects exactly the coffee dust it was supposed to keep out. We stock the replacement under part number F.1.022.
When it's due
Time for a new cap if:
- it is missing and the screw is exposed,
- the edge is torn or a piece has broken off,
- it no longer holds and falls out during backflushing,
- coffee grounds have visibly collected underneath it.

From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
When backflushing, we deliberately keep the jet away from the caps on the group head. Over time, the pressure loosens them from their seat, and then you find them on the drip plate. This is our experience from the workshop, not a manufacturer requirement. Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured to order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we'll clarify the fit together. From the side with a wooden or plastic stick. Metal tools leave marks on the group head.
