Copper is soft. That is exactly why it sits on screw fittings that have to be tight: when tightened, the metal settles into every unevenness of the two surfaces and fills it. However, this only really works once. If you fit a compressed copper washer a second time, you end up retightening it, and after the next heat-up it starts dripping again.
This washer measures 10 × 14 × 1,5 mm and carries the part number L100/D. It is the smallest of the copper washers we stock.
There is a drop on the screw fitting or a limescale trail is forming, even though it is tight. The old washer is visibly flattened, notched or has tarnished dark. Or you have just undone the connection – in which case a new copper washer always goes in when you reassemble it.

The washer sits on a pressurised screw fitting. Only work on the machine when it is switched off, cooled down and depressurised. A copper washer is replaced whenever a connection is opened, not reused, and the screw fitting is not tightened beyond feel – more torque does not make a leaking joint tight. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here.
With a shim washer, what matters is the material, inner diameter, outer diameter and thickness – the name alone is never enough. We stock these items:
Two washers of almost the same size are not interchangeable if the material is different: a copper washer is allowed to settle, a Teflon washer springs back, a steel washer stays hard. If in doubt, the number on your old part decides.
For workshops that close every opened screw fitting with new copper washers during an overhaul, and for anyone looking for exactly this washer with the number L100/D from a piece of service documentation.
We stock the larger copper washers as L180/1 and L4002; the copper gasket for the brew group vent goes with them. All small parts are listed in the Original spare parts section, the rest of the range under La Marzocco accessories and spare parts.
From our workshop
In Bern and Zurich we always keep a few of the common copper washers in the drawer – not because they break often, but because otherwise an overhaul gets held up by a two-franc washer and the machine stays open a day longer. That is our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. What is in the cup in the meantime: Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or Very Nutty. More under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a trial fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Our documentation does not say, so we do not claim it. What is reliable is the number L100/D and the size 10 × 14 × 1,5 mm. Send us the serial number and we will check the fit.
Better not. Copper seals by deforming the first time it is tightened. The second time, it lacks this ability to deform, and the connection tends to start leaking again.
In size. L100/D measures 10 × 14 × 1,5 mm, L180/1 measures 22 × 17 × 1,5 mm, L100/1A and L4002 are separate items. All four are linked in the section above.
One washer per order unit. If you are planning an overhaul, it is best to take a few more right away.
Yes. We are happy to show it to you in our showroom in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b.
