Markibar ORHI B – Espresso Grinder with Instant Dose, 64 mm
At seven in the morning every second counts, and the dose is already in the doser: the Markibar ORHI B pre-grinds while you serve the last coffee.
The ORHI B is the version of the ORHI without automatic portafilter recognition. The main dose comes when the portafilter is inserted, and you select the less frequently used dose with a button. The grinding mechanism, housing and Instant Dose correspond to the ORHI A. The ORHI comes from Markibar in Esquíroz (Navarra, Spain).
Instant Dose in everyday use
Classic doser grinders store the ground coffee in the doser, On Demand grinders make you wait for every dose. Markibar combines both: in Pre Dose mode, the ORHI keeps the next dose ground and ready and automatically grinds again after each dispensing. In On Demand mode, it only grinds on request. The quick change is set from the factory, with which you switch between the two modes.
The dose arrives in the portafilter compact and without excess, and the fixed-mounted tamper presses it right at the grinder before the portafilter goes into the machine.
Dosing, grinding mechanism and temperature
Dosing is by time; you programme the single and double dose separately, and 1.8 and 3.1 seconds are set from the factory. Markibar states the repeatability as ±0.4 g once all parameters have been set. A quick look at the scale after a grind setting change keeps the extraction at the weight ratio, with 1:2 as a starting point and not a law.
The 64 mm flat burrs turn at 1,350 rpm (50 Hz). A coupling thermally separates the motor and the grinding chamber, so that motor heat does not travel into the ground coffee. The options are Food Friendly from the factory (rated for around 800 kg of coffee), Long Life (around 1,500 kg) and Extreme Helfezi with TDC coating (around 5,000 kg), developed with the Swiss manufacturer Helfezi AG. Every grinding mechanism has its own character, like an engine; there is no objectively best one.

Who the ORHI B is made for
Markibar recommends the ORHI for up to around 15 kg of coffee per week. The ORHI B suits teams who work with one main dose and select the second with a button when needed, in cafés, bars and restaurants. If you want the dose to be recognised automatically at the portafilter, take the ORHI A. All models are in our Markibar collection, time-controlled grinders from other brands for example in the Mahlkönig collection.
No budget is just a starting point, and no grinder has to do everything. The ORHI B does the essentials: grind fresh, dispense quickly, dose consistently. Our advisor tool for machines and grinders helps you work out which grinder suits your business. Our opinion is one of many.
What goes with it
You will find the matching espresso machine in our coffee machine selection or at La Marzocco. For check-weighing: for anyone who wants a scale that is affordable and precise, Normcore; for those who want an app and a flow rate display, Acaia. Replacement burrs are available in the Markibar collection, grinder cleaner under machine and grinder cleaning.
Ordering and advice
Coffee Coaching Club is the official Swiss importer of Markibar. You order the ORHI B directly online. Click and Collect is possible in Bern and Zurich, and so is financing. A free consultation appointment is an option, not a requirement.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between ORHI B and ORHI A?
The ORHI A recognises the double portafilter automatically. On the ORHI B, you preselect the less frequently used dose with a button. The grinding mechanism, housing, tamper and Instant Dose are the same.
How do I select the dose on the ORHI B?
The ORHI knows several selection systems, which the service sets up: single dose as the default and double dose by button before inserting, or the other way round, repetition of the last selected dose, or a double click with the portafilter.
Which burrs should I choose?
Food Friendly from the factory is rated for around 800 kg of coffee, Long Life for around 1,500 kg, Extreme Helfezi TDC for around 5,000 kg. With high consumption, you change burrs less often with the longer-lasting ones.
Is a tamper included?
Yes, the ORHI is supplied with a fixed-mounted tamper: 57 mm diameter from the factory, and a 53 mm tamper base is included so that you can fit the diameter that matches your basket.
Can I see the ORHI B before buying?
We are happy to tell you in advance whether the ORHI B is currently set up in one of our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) or Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Write to us at [email protected].
Tip from the roastery: For everyday use on the ORHI B, we roast beans that work equally well in espresso and milk drinks: Nutty Delight round and nutty, Cozy Chocolate dense and chocolatey. If you want maximum body without acidity, take Very Nutty; if you want to discover something fruity, Wild Peach. That is our recommendation, one of many.
