Warm wood in your hand instead of cool metal, and the steam starts to hiss as if someone had made the ritual by hand.
For many people who work with a portafilter at home, the look of the coffee corner is as much part of the experience as the drink itself. There's a solid reason for that: material, colour and feel measurably change how we perceive what comes next. Wood conducts heat less well than metal and therefore feels different straight away, and each of these small physical signals runs along the same pathways that also process memory and emotion. Then there's the anticipation, which already releases dopamine long before the espresso is in the cup.
This finishing set consists of two walnut rotary knobs for hot water and steam and is made for the Profitec Pro 500, Pro 600 and Pro 700. Only the knobs are swapped; nothing changes in the machine's technology. The result is the visual and tactile finishing touch you picture when you walk into the kitchen in the morning.
Nobody needs this. It doesn't make the espresso better, and we don't claim it does. It's a decision about how you want to live, and that's just as legitimate as any technical one. If you want it, you know why. Our opinion is one of many.

For anyone who has a Pro 500, Pro 600 or Pro 700 and wants to take the machine further towards wood. For anyone who puts their coffee corner together piece by piece over the years, without it ever having to be finished. And for anyone who simply likes to touch wood when they turn on the steam.
If your machine has joystick valves instead, the joystick valve handle set is the right way to go. You'll find both and more in our portafilter handles and replacement handles, and the matching machines in the Profitec collection.
Wood on the machine usually calls for wood next to it. When it comes to tamping, there are two ways: for anyone who wants an affordable, precise tamper, the pressure-regulating Normcore Spring-Loaded Tamper from our Normcore collection is the obvious choice. If you want more feel and craftsmanship, you'll find it in the Weber Workshops tampers and in the Moonraker as a WDT tool.
And because every shot turns out differently as soon as the bean, humidity or how you feel that day changes, a scale that keeps up is worth having. For anyone who wants that affordable and reliable: the compact Normcore scales. If you want an app, Bluetooth and a flow-rate display: the Acaia coffee scales. We always describe extraction by the weight ratio, 1:2 as a starting point, never by time alone.
For the Profitec Pro 500, Pro 600 and Pro 700 with rotary valves for hot water and steam. If your machine has joystick valves, you need the joystick valve handle set instead.
Two walnut rotary knobs for hot water and steam. It's purely a finishing set; nothing is changed in the machine's technology.
No, and we don't claim it does. It's a decision about look and feel. That both affect the experience is well documented; it has no influence on the extraction itself.
Yes. In our showrooms in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b, you can see Profitec machines and accessories in person. Buying online is the normal route.
We deliver within 2 to 4 working days throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. Questions are welcome by email to [email protected] or by phone during business hours.
When the machine looks new, the first shot tastes better anyway. From our coffee roastery we recommend Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight for it: full-bodied, aromatic, dense and round. If you're after maximum body without acidity, reach for Very Nutty.
For the curious, Wild Peach has a fruity, lively side in store. That's our recommendation, one of many, and any bean you enjoy works just as well.
