Freshly ground coffee lies loosely in the basket, a few turns with the fine needles – and small clumps dissolve, the grinds are evenly distributed. A quick step that provides a more consistent base for extraction.
A WDT tool with fine needles that evenly distributes the coffee before tamping, including a stand.
WDT stands for Weiss Distribution Technique: With fine needles, you break up clumps in the ground coffee and distribute it evenly in the basket before tamping. This helps to reduce channeling and leads to more consistent extractions. The tool works with nine 0.3 mm needles and a needle depth of 18 to 22 mm; the base contains a bristle brush that can be removed for cleaning.
The needles are made of food-grade 304 stainless steel, and the rotatable handle is made of anodized aluminum. A stand is included. Distribution is a learning process, not an examination subject, and this is just our perspective, one of many.

For anyone who wants to evenly distribute their ground coffee before tamping – a simple step with a noticeable effect on extraction. All coffee journeys are welcome here.
After distributing comes tamping – affordable and very good tampers from our Normcore Collection, with a higher material standard from Weber Workshops. Plus bottomless portafilters and filter baskets also from Normcore.
You can find the right machine in the Coffee Machine Collection, and the grinder in the Coffee Grinder Collection. If you're still choosing, use our consultation tool.

Even distribution helps, but the bean makes the taste. For dense, sweet espresso, we often reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight. If you like it full-bodied and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. This is our recommendation, one of many, and every bean that tastes good to you is the right one.
You order directly through our online shop. If you have questions, we're happy to help — online or in person — with experience from our roastery, cafés and showrooms.
