Acaia Calibration Weight 500 g – Stainless Steel Reference Weight for Precise Scales
A compact block of stainless steel, cool and surprisingly heavy in your hand. You place it on the weighing surface, the display counts up briefly and then settles calmly at 500.0 – and in that moment you know your scale is telling you exactly what's really sitting on it.
It's an unassuming piece of metal with one precise job: the truth against which your scale measures itself.
What makes the Acaia calibration weight special
A scale is a measuring instrument, and measuring instruments drift over time – temperature, a slight tilt, knocks during transport, or simply everyday use affect the sensor. With a defined reference weight, you bring the scale back to the point: you place the weight on, start the calibration, and the scale matches its reading against the known value. After that, what it shows is accurate.
Acaia makes these weights from stainless steel to a standard equivalent to class F2 – with a tolerance of around ± 0.0075 grams. The logo and value are cleanly laser-engraved, and a snugly fitted EVA foam case protects the weight on the go from scratches and dirt that would compromise its accuracy. The weight fits Acaia scales like the Pearl, Pearl S, and Lunar, and can equally be used for other precise scales that calibrate against a 500-gram reference – for instance, grinders with a built-in scale. Whether you calibrate regularly is up to you; that's just our view, one of many.

Who the calibration weight is for
The 500 g weight is for anyone who wants to trust their scale over the long term – at home as much as in daily use. Anyone who transports their scale often, switches between locations, or simply wants to be sure recipes stay reproducible has a reliable reference on hand with this. Many Acaia scales ship with a 100 g weight; the 500 g allows calibration at a higher point in the measuring range. Every coffee path is welcome here.
What goes with it
You'll find matching scales in our Acaia collection. Anyone running a grinder with a built-in scale calibrates that too with it – a look at our coffee grinders is worth it. Not sure what fits your setup? Our advisory tool can help.
Frequently asked questions about the Acaia calibration weight 500 g
Why do I need a calibration weight?
A scale drifts over time due to temperature, knocks, or transport. With a known reference weight, you adjust it so it once again shows exactly what's sitting on it – the basis for reproducible recipes.
Which scales does the 500 g weight work with?
With Acaia scales like the Pearl, Pearl S, and Lunar, as well as other precise scales that calibrate against a 500-gram reference, such as grinders with a built-in scale.
How accurate is the Acaia calibration weight?
It's made of stainless steel and meets accuracy class F2 with a tolerance of around ± 0.0075 grams. An EVA foam case protects it from scratches and dirt that could affect its accuracy.
How often should I calibrate my scale?
Regular calibration is a good idea, especially after the scale has been transported or set up in a new location. That keeps your measurements consistent over time.
Roastery tip
We like to calibrate our scales after every change of location – a quick step that saves a lot of frustration when a recipe suddenly tastes different. For the espresso afterwards, we like to reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight – full-bodied, sweet, dense. Anyone who likes it full and round with no acidity at all stays with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. That's our recommendation, one of many, and every bean that tastes good to you is the right one.
