La Marzocco Espresso Machine Cleaning Powder – for group head, shower screen and portafilter
With every shot, coffee oils build up in the group head, shower screen and portafilter. The La Marzocco cleaning powder dissolves these residues during backflushing with the blind basket.
La Marzocco calls it Puro Caff (part number F.9.021); according to the label it is made by Puro for La Marzocco. The container holds 566 g. According to La Marzocco, the ingredients are biodegradable and phosphate-free.
How to use it
Add about half a teaspoon, around 3 g, per group head to the blind basket, lock in the portafilter and backflush. Then rinse with several cycles without powder.
Our routine: backflush daily with the blind basket and clean water, and with cleaning powder about every 50 shots, which takes around 5 minutes. La Marzocco itself suggests a weekly routine. Our opinion is one of many.
Dissolved in water, the powder also works as a soaking solution for shower screens, baskets and portafilters.

Tip from the roastery: A clean group head shows what is in the bean. From our coffee roastery in Zurich, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight are dense, chocolatey and nutty, Very Nutty brings maximum body. If you are looking for something fruity, you will find it in Wild Peach. That is our recommendation, one of many.
