Lelit Portafilter Iconic Double Spout – portafilter for LELIT58 in Zebrano or Smoked OAK

Two streams run together, dark and dense, and in the cup a crema settles that holds for a moment before it opens up.

The spout sits lower than usual. Lelit calls it the Coffee Slide and has shaped it so that it doesn't touch the worktop – the path from basket to cup gets shorter, and the espresso falls less far. A short path means less cooling over the last few centimetres, and temperature helps decide which compounds dissolve and in what order they arrive in the cup.

    What sets this portafilter apart

Lelit calls this series gemstone-shaped – in German-speaking retail it goes by the name Iconic. The handle has a circular cross-section and a weighted metal core, and it's shaped so that locking it into the group feels easier. The handle shape is also matched to tamping: it gives your hand a clear direction when you brace the portafilter on the mat.

You get to choose the wood. Zebrano is an exotic wood with a distinct, striped grain and a strong character. Smoked OAK, a smoked oak, moves into deep, calm tones with a dense figure. Technically the two are identical – it's a decision about how the portafilter looks next to your machine, and that's an entirely legitimate reason. That material, colour and feel influence enjoyment before the first sip is measurable: vessel and surface change how we rate body and aroma.

Four stainless steel baskets from the collaboration with IMS come with it: one serving of 9 to 11 grams, two servings of 14 to 18 grams, two servings of 18 to 21 grams, and a blind basket. The choice of basket fundamentally changes the aroma picture, because hole pattern and flow resistance help determine when which compound dissolves. With three sizes in the box, you can experience this without having to buy anything extra. The blind basket is there for the backflush: daily without detergent, about every 50 shots with detergent, around five minutes.

We always describe extraction by weight ratio, 1:2 as a starting point, never by time alone. No espresso laws, no espresso police – the coffee has to taste good. Our opinion is one of many.

    Who it's made for

For everyone with a Lelit machine with a LELIT58 group who wants to watch their espresso run into the cup rather than through an open basket. A double spout splits the shot, lets two people share it and keeps the worktop cleaner. If you'd like to make the extraction visible, you'll find the bottomless version in the same series – both are in the Portafilters and bottomless portafilters collection.

Nobody needs this portafilter. You either want it or you don't. No shot can be replicated: the bean, the humidity and the person change every day, and that's not a limitation, it's the beauty of it. Which machine works with which group you can see among the Lelit espresso machines.

    What goes with it

Three basket sizes in the box only make sense if you also hit the dose. For everyone who wants a coffee scale that's affordable and precise: the Normcore barista tools, where you'll also find the Spring-Loaded Tamper and the WDT tool. If you want app, flow-rate display and Bluetooth, reach for the Acaia coffee scales.

Same pattern for tamping and distributing: affordable and good are the Normcore Spring-Loaded Tamper and the Normcore WDT tool; if you want more, you'll find the Weber tamper and the Moonraker at Weber Workshops. Which machine suits you in the first place, our comparison and advice tool helps you sort out.

    Frequently asked questions

Which Lelit machines does this portafilter fit?

All Lelit machines with the LELIT58 group: MaraX and MaraX3, Bianca, Elizabeth and Elizabeth3, Victoria and Victoria3, and Kate. The Anna and Anita models work with the LELIT57 group – it doesn't fit there.

    Which baskets are included?

Four, made of stainless steel and developed in collaboration with IMS: one serving of 9 to 11 grams, two servings of 14 to 18 grams, two servings of 18 to 21 grams, and a blind basket for the backflush.

What's the difference between Zebrano and Smoked OAK?

Technically, nothing. Both have the same gemstone-shaped handle with a weighted metal core, the same Coffee Slide spout and the same four baskets. Zebrano shows a strong, striped grain; Smoked OAK moves into deep, calm tones. It's a decision about how it looks on your counter.

How does the Iconic series differ from the Lelit portafilters with a wooden handle?

The Iconic series has the gemstone-shaped handle with a circular cross-section and a weighted metal core, designed to need less effort when inserting it. The classic series with a wooden handle has a slimmer shape. Both fit the LELIT58 group and come with the same four IMS baskets.

Can I see the product before buying?

Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there. If you're buying online in Switzerland: delivery to Switzerland and Liechtenstein takes 2 to 4 working days.

    From the roastery

With three basket sizes in the box, it's lovely to watch how the same bean paints a different picture at a different dose. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight stay dense and round, with caramel, chocolate and nuts. If you're looking for maximum body without any acidity, go for Very Nutty. And if you're curious what the small basket gets out of a lighter roast, take Wild Peach – fruity and lively, a discovery on the side. That's our recommendation, one of many; any other bean works just as well.
