Matcha Bamboo Scoop (Chashaku)

A narrow, slightly curved bamboo scoop that precisely lifts the right amount of powder from the tin with a calm movement. The Chashaku, as the tool is called in Japanese, has always been part of matcha preparation and brings measure and tranquility to the ritual.

Its shape is designed for one task: dosing. One level scoop corresponds to approximately 1 to 1.5 grams of matcha, which is roughly the amount for one bowl. This allows the amount of powder to be measured evenly, without a scale, and the fine curvature holds the light powder without much spilling. Made of bamboo, the scoop remains light in hand and fits calmly into the process from measuring to whisking.

Who it's for

For anyone who wants to dose their matcha evenly without using a scale. Whether for daily use or for classic preparation – the Chashaku makes measuring simple and calm. This is our view, one of many.

Matching Accessories

The scoop complements whisks, bowls, and complete sets from our Tea Accessories Collection, ranging from affordable sets to elaborate ceramics. For water at the right temperature, it's worth taking a look at our Varia Collection, and for creamy Matcha Latte, a milk frother from our Subminimal Collection helps.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much matcha does one scoop hold?

One level Chashaku corresponds to about 1 to 1.5 grams of matcha, roughly the amount for one bowl. For a stronger matcha, use two scoops.

How do I care for the bamboo scoop?

Wipe it dry or rinse it briefly with clear water and let it air dry. A dishwasher is not suitable as it can damage the bamboo.

Do I absolutely need the scoop?

Not absolutely necessary, but it doses more evenly than a regular teaspoon and is part of the classic matcha equipment.

Can I see the scoop locally before buying?

Yes, in our showrooms in Bern and Zurich. Delivery within 2 to 4 business days throughout Switzerland and Liechtenstein. For questions, you can reach us during business hours or by email at office@coffeecoachingclub.ch.

Even dosing is as important for matcha as it is for espresso – only the tool is different. If you also like beans in addition to matcha, a dense roast like Cozy Chocolate makes a good companion. This is our recommendation, one of many.
