Frequently Asked Questions
When should I replace my basket?
If the perforation shows cracks, is visibly clogged despite cleaning, or if the extraction becomes uneven (channeling despite correct tamping and distribution). A basket will last for many years with normal care.
What is the difference between a 1-cup and a 2-cup basket?
The depth of the basket and thus the amount of ground coffee: a 1-cup basket holds about 7 to 9 grams, a 2-cup basket about 14 to 18 grams. The diameter remains the same for both (49 mm for the Cremina).
Does the 49mm basket also fit the Maximatic?
No. The Maximatic has 54mm baskets – there is a separate Olympia basket available in the appropriate size for it.
