Group gasket 71.5 × 55 mm for La Marzocco – so your portafilter locks in snugly again
Put the portafilter in, swing it to the right, and it locks. The espresso runs, and the edge of the group stays dry. This inconspicuous part takes care of that: the gasket you press the portafilter against every morning.
It sits in the group between the group head and the portafilter and seals the group during extraction. It measures 71.5 mm outside and 55 mm inside, with two heights of 7.1 and 6.1 mm, a bead and notches on the outer edge. This is the gasket format of the groups on the GS3, Linea, GB5, FB80 and Strada. It is a compatible spare part in the La Marzocco format.
When it is time to replace it
Heat, pressure and coffee oils harden the material over time. Typical signs: water escapes at the side of the portafilter during extraction, you have to swing the portafilter further and further to get a seal, or the gasket is visibly hard, cracked or compressed.

Fit: which La Marzocco, which height
This gasket format is listed for the La Marzocco Linea Classic and FB70, the Linea PB, the GB5, the FB80, the GS3, the Strada in the EP, MP, AV and EE versions, and the Mistral.
The Linea Micra and the Linea Mini R have their own gasket: the La Marzocco group gasket for Linea Mini R and Linea Micra. La Marzocco portafilter gaskets come in several heights. Which one fits depends on how worn the group and portafilter are. The safest way is to compare with your old gasket: measure it at its highest and at its flattest point.
Important for installation
The gasket sits in an area that is hot and under pressure during operation. Before any work on it, the machine is switched off, unplugged and completely cooled down.
We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here. The old gasket is often stuck. If the groove gets damaged while removing it, the new gasket will not seal either. If you are unsure, leave the replacement to a professional.

Tip from our workshop: If the portafilter barely locks in with a fresh gasket, it is too high. If, on the other hand, you have to swing it far past the middle before it seals, the group usually needs a higher gasket. On multi-group machines we replace all groups at the same time so that every portafilter feels the same. That is our routine, not a manufacturer specification.
