Weber Workshops Really Nice Tamper Base Kit – Interchangeable Base for 49, 54 and 58mm
You know the feeling when you press the Really Nice Tamper: the smooth mechanism, the clear resistance of the spring, the quiet click of the levelling plate. With the Base Kit, you bring exactly that feeling to a second machine – same handle, different size.
Weber Workshops built the tamper so that the base can be separated from the handle. The Base Kit gives you a new working surface in 49, 54 or 58 mm, which you fit onto your existing Really Nice Tamper handle. Handle, spring and weight stay familiar; only the diameter changes – in seconds. Coffee Coaching Club imports Weber Workshops.
What the Base Kit Is For
Anyone with more than one machine knows the situation: two portafilter sizes, two tampers, two habits. With the Base Kit, the handle stays the same – mechanism, feel and weight unchanged. Only the base changes. That way you can cover, say, a Cremina alongside a La Marzocco or a Sage alongside an ECM without buying a second complete tamper.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the Base Kit without the Really Nice Tamper?
No. The Base Kit contains only the base, levelling collar and stand – no handle and no spring. You need an existing Really Nice Tamper as the basis.
Does the 49mm base fit my La Pavoni?
Yes, for models before August 2000 with a 49mm portafilter. Newer La Pavoni machines from August 2000 onwards use 51 mm and are not compatible.
Can I see the Base Kit before purchasing?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. As not all variants are on permanent display, just check with us beforehand if needed: [email protected].
How fast is delivery in Switzerland?
2 to 4 working days throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. Click and Collect is available in Bern and Zurich.
Roastery Tip
An evenly tamped puck extracts more uniformly, whatever the machine – the water spreads evenly and no side is over- or under-extracted. With dense profiles like our Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, this shows up as a rounder, clearer cup. That's our recommendation, one of many.
