Acaia X La Marzocco Connected Scale – Brew-by-Weight for the Linea Mini
The paddle moves forward, the scale tares and starts the timer. At the target weight the Linea Mini stops the shot by itself. No glancing at the display, no button to press at the right moment.
The Connected Scale was developed jointly by Acaia and La Marzocco. It runs La Marzocco-specific firmware and is set up via the La Marzocco Home app. A prediction algorithm accounts for the drips that still fall into the cup after the stop. What counts is the weight in the cup, not the reading on the display at the moment of the stop.
What the Connected Scale does
Brew-by-weight
The scale stops the shot at the set target weight. A prediction algorithm estimates the flow and ends the shot so that the drips that follow are accounted for. This works on the Linea Mini and the Linea Mini R.
Grind-by-weight
With the La Marzocco Pico and Swan grinders, grinding stops at the set weight. No more weighing by hand afterwards.
Integration with the Coffee Station
The scale syncs with the La Marzocco app and the Coffee Station and shows the weight in real time throughout grinding and brewing.
Two doses in the La Marzocco Home app
In the app you store up to two target doses; alternatively there is a free-flow mode, for both brew-by-weight and grind-by-weight.
Auto-tare and timer
As soon as the paddle is moved, the scale tares automatically and starts the timer.
You need a machine that is online and runs current firmware (v1.0rc7 or newer). Depending on the year of manufacture, older Linea Minis need a Gateway or IoT kit installed by a technician. The Connected Scale does not work with the Linea Micra or the GS3.
The details in everyday use
Resistant to interference
Scale and machine ignore unusual readings during the shot, for example when a cup is put down or the scale is touched.
Water-resistant
The housing is designed for liquid spilled at the machine.
Fast, stable measurement
Readability is 0.1 g, and the timer is built in.
Battery and housing
The battery charges via USB-C, and the housing is made of aluminium.
We brew espresso by weight, not by time. We grind fine, start at 14.5 grams and work our way up from there, usually to 17 grams, at a ratio below 1:2. No two shots are the same, because beans, humidity and your own day change. The scale does the measuring, taste decides. Our opinion is one of many.

Who it is made for
For everyone with a Linea Mini or Linea Mini R who wants brew-by-weight built into the machine workflow. The Acaia X ships ready for the La Marzocco system; no additional licence is needed.
If you already own an Acaia Lunar with USB-C (serial number from AL008): since March 2026 there is a paid upgrade to the same Connected Scale functions, purchased via the Acaia Updater app. The Lunar comes in several colours and also works with other machines. You will find both in the Acaia Collection.
For everyone looking for a precise espresso scale without machine integration: the scales in the Normcore Collection are compact, accurate and reliable. We explain the difference in the Acaia vs. Normcore comparison. Which machine and grinder suit you is narrowed down by our advice tool.
As the official Swiss importer of Acaia, we deliver throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2–4 working days, with Click & Collect in Bern and Zürich. Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there. You can test espresso machines and grinders side by side in the comparison workshop in the showroom, an option, not a requirement.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Acaia X La Marzocco work with any espresso machine?
No. Brew-by-weight works on the La Marzocco Linea Mini and the Linea Mini R, grind-by-weight with the Pico and Swan grinders. The scale does not work with the Linea Micra or the GS3.
What does my Linea Mini need for brew-by-weight?
The machine must be online and run firmware v1.0rc7 or newer. The update runs via the La Marzocco Home app. Depending on the year of manufacture, older Linea Minis need a Gateway or IoT kit installed by a technician.
What is the difference to the Acaia Lunar with upgrade?
The Acaia X comes ready for the La Marzocco system and is only available in black. The Acaia Lunar with USB-C (serial number from AL008) can be upgraded to the same functions with a paid licence, comes in several colours and also works with other machines.
Can I see the scale before buying?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Not every model is on site at all times, so let us know your preferred model in advance at [email protected].
Tip from the roastery: For brew-by-weight on the Linea Mini, we recommend from our coffee roastery Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight: full-bodied, with chocolate and nut. If you are after maximum body, go for Very Nutty. For the curious, Wild Peach is the fruity addition. That is our recommendation, one of many.
