Nobody needs a single basket – most people pull doubles. You want it because you like the single as your own little ritual and want to achieve it precisely. This is one of many possible choices, and we respect it either way.
What makes this basket special
True single baskets are rare – and this one is made precisely for that. IMS's Competition perforation features 253 round holes with a conical cross-section on a small perforated area of 30 mm, perfectly matched to the small amount of coffee. This ensures even extraction even with 7–9 g, instead of the water simply rushing through. Made from AISI 304 stainless steel in Italy, with a flat bottom and external ridge for secure hold. Espresso is extraction based on a weight ratio, usually 1:2 – so 8 g yields about 16 g in the cup. Taste and smell are inseparable; a large part is perceived retronasally. It is our observation that the choice of basket fundamentally changes the aroma profile.
