La Marzocco Linea PB X AV 3-group – Multi-Boiler Espresso Machine for Cafés

Three portafilters locked in, three shots pulling at the same moment, while the next order is already waiting at the counter – in a busy café, that's the everyday reality, not the exception. The Linea PB X in its 3-group version is built for exactly this rhythm: three stations running independently, none waiting on another.

At Coffee Coaching Club, we are both La Marzocco partners and coffee roasters – we support you through configuration, installation, training, and service.

What sets the Linea PB X apart

The X generation brings multi-boiler technology with independent saturated groups per station, insulated cool-touch steam wands that stay cool to the touch, and improved cup-warming zones. In our observation, saturated groups hold temperature more stable throughout the day than an E61 system – others in the industry see it differently, our opinion is just one of many. With three groups in continuous use, this becomes especially noticeable: each group has its own coffee boiler and stays at temperature independently of the other two, even when all three are running at once. AV stands for Auto-Volumetric: dose volumes are programmable per group, and the shot stops automatically at the set amount – unlike the ABR version with integrated scales, AV dosing runs purely volumetrically. The machine is also available with tall feet.

Who it's for

The 3-group Linea PB X is built for businesses with very high throughput – for cafés where several shots run at once and the counter is staffed continuously. At 95 cm wide and 77 kg, it takes noticeably more counter space than the 2-group Linea PB X at 71 cm and 61 kg, but in return the third group gives you real parallel work, especially during rush hours. The steam boiler is larger too, at 11 instead of 7 litres – practical for businesses steaming milk continuously. For businesses with steady but not continuous throughput, the 2-group version is often enough. Which of the two fits your business is a question of daily reality, not of better or worse – our take on it is just one opinion among many.

Installation and service

The machine arrives from the factory without a plug. For professional commissioning on site, we recommend the installation package and the scale-protection filter installation – both are added to your cart automatically as soon as you add the machine. When you buy a La Marzocco, a barista workshop for your team is included (at one location, up to three team members, German or English).

What goes with it

For a three-group café setup, you need a grinder that keeps pace: from the Mahlkönig E65S for solid everyday use to the Mahlkönig E80 Supreme for the highest throughput, you'll find both in the Mahlkönig range. For keeping machine and grinder in shape, there are matching products under Machine and Grinder Cleaning. If you're still weighing which group count fits your business, you'll find guidance in the espresso machine comparison, or directly in the La Marzocco Collection, where the 2-group Linea PB X sits alongside it for comparison.

Roastery tip

With three groups in continuous use, consistency is everything – in the water, the grind, and the bean. As roasters, we supply cafés with freshly roasted beans and tailor a profile to your business: for most people, we recommend dense, aromatic roasts like Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. If you want maximum body with virtually no acidity, Very Nutty delivers that. And for anyone curious about a fruit-forward experience, Wild Peach is a discovery worth making. That's our recommendation, one of many.
