The vacuum draws the water through the coffee, and a clear, full-bodied cup lands in your mug – on the mountain, in the office, at the beach. No glass to break, no bitter residue in the carafe.
The Weber Workshops RoadRunner brings the no-bypass vacuum method of the BIRD into a lightweight, robust travel form. The carafe is made of virgin Tritan, along with a drive shaft and agitator made of 304 stainless steel, and silicone seals. Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer for Weber Workshops.
As with the BIRD, nothing here happens by gravity: a vacuum controlled by you draws the water through the coffee bed, every drop passing through the coffee. No bypass, no diluted water. Because you control the pressure yourself, you can grind finer than with many other travel methods – resulting in more extraction and more body.
It also features something the BIRD doesn't: a bistable folding handle that locks for brewing and lies flat for packing, and three integrated Bean Cellars with one-way freshness valves, located inside the carafe. This way, you can take your doses directly with the device.

In terms of cup character, both are similar – the same no-bypass vacuum method, the same blend of clarity and body. The BIRD is the stationary piece of glass and brass, a ritual for home. The RoadRunner is the robust travel version made of Tritan, with a folding handle and Bean Cellars. Those who travel a lot or want to brew shatter-proof will choose the RoadRunner; those looking for an object for their counter will choose the BIRD.
For on the go, a compact hand grinder from our selection of hand grinders, such as from Comandante or Timemore, is worthwhile. Replacements for Abaca paper filters can be found in the Weber Workshops Collection. Beans for travel: our Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight.
The RoadRunner is available directly in the webshop. Delivery throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2 to 4 business days. Click and Collect in Bern, Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich, Hagenholzstrasse 50b.
Same no-bypass vacuum method and similar cup character. The RoadRunner is made of shatter-proof Tritan instead of glass, lighter, with a folding handle and three integrated Bean Cellars – designed for travel.
No. Only the shape is reminiscent of it. The RoadRunner draws water through the coffee via vacuum, allows for finer grinding and filters more cleanly; no bitter residue remains in the carafe after brewing.
A reusable stainless steel mesh and Abaca paper filters from Cafec. Mesh provides more body, paper a clearer cup, and both can be used together. 150 paper filters in a tin are included.
Yes, it's built for it: shatter-proof Tritan, folding handle, neoprene sleeve, and Bean Cellars for your doses. At around 330 g and 85 × 180 mm, it fits into a backpack or bag.
2 to 4 business days throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. Click and Collect possible in Bern and Zurich.
On the go, the biggest variable is the water, not the equipment. If the cup tastes unfamiliar, it's usually due to the local water, not your dosage. Otherwise, as at home: grind finer for more body, extract a little longer for more sweetness. Our Cozy Chocolate is a grateful travel companion, because it remains balanced even under changing conditions. This is our recommendation, one of many.
