Eureka Mignon Libra 55 – Espresso Grinder with Built-In Scale
The Eureka Mignon Libra grinds by weight instead of by time: 55 mm steel burrs, scale in the fork. Buy in Switzerland, see it live in Bern and Zurich.
The portafilter slides into the fork, one tap on the display, and the espresso grounds fall gram by gram into the basket. Once the programmed target weight is reached, the grinder stops. No stopwatch, no re-weighing.
Features of the Eureka Mignon Libra
Instant Grind Weighing Technology
Eureka's patented system grinds by weight instead of by time. The scale sits in the portafilter fork and measures in real time how much espresso grounds are in the basket. This makes the routine simpler and faster, and no excess coffee grounds are left over.
Accurate to ±0.2 grams
Eureka specifies the dosing consistency as ±0.2 grams. This keeps coffee waste low and your recipe repeatable.
No coffee grounds wasted
An anti-vibration system lets the grinder finish the dose even if the portafilter is bumped. If you remove the portafilter, grinding stops immediately.
Simple operation via touch display
Via the touch display you set the amount for single and double shots, also grind by weight in continuous mode, switch between single and double while grinding, and use start and pause.
The details in everyday use
Special fork
Sturdy and adjustable by hand without tools. According to Eureka, the fork fits any portafilter.
Ready to use right away
The integrated scale is calibrated at the factory. Unpack, set up, grind.
Mignon Dosing Funnel included
The included dosing funnel reduces spilled coffee grounds. Eureka recommends it for single shots above 8 grams, double shots above 15 grams and triple shots from 20 to 22 grams.
Quiet
Eureka's Silent Technology reduces grinding noise via an anti-vibration system without reducing grinding performance.
Burrs and grind size
Inside, flat 55 mm burrs made of hardened steel do the work, driven by an AC motor with 1350 rpm and 310 watts. Eureka specifies a burr lifespan of 300 kg of coffee and recommends the Libra for espresso with darker roasts. In our view, the low speed emphasises aroma and clarity, higher speeds tend more towards body. Burr sets are like engines: subjective, there is no objectively best one.
You set the grind size via Eureka's patented Stepless Micrometric Regulation: stepless, with infinite adjustment points. The lower burr is adjusted, so the setting is retained during cleaning. The ACE system reduces clumps and static charge.
What grinding by weight changes in everyday use
Time-based grinders fluctuate with bean moisture and the fill level of the bean hopper. The Libra measures the result directly, and the dose stays the same from morning to morning. You then steer the extraction via the weight ratio, 1:2 is a good starting point. No shot is exactly replicable, bean and person change daily. Espresso is complex, but not rocket science. Our opinion is one of many.

Who the Libra is made for
For everyone who pulls espresso at home every day and wants a consistent dose without a separate scale. If you are looking for single dosing or larger flat burrs, you will find alternatives in our Eureka coffee grinders and at Option-O. For everyone who prefers a hand grinder: Comandante or Timemore. Our advice tool gives you an overview of all coffee grinders, and you will find the comparison of grinders with scales in the grind-by-weight grinder comparison.
Nobody needs a grinder with a scale. You want one, or you don't. If you want to test several grinders directly side by side, you can book the espresso machine and grinder comparison in the showroom in Bern or Zurich, an option, not a requirement. A free consultation appointment narrows down the selection beforehand. Financing available, delivery in 2–4 working days throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
A matching setup around the Libra
The Libra does not need a separate scale for the dose. For the beverage weight under the cup: for everyone who wants an affordable and precise scale, Normcore. If you want an app, flow rate display and Bluetooth: Acaia.
The same applies to tools for the puck: tamper, WDT tool, puck screen and tamping station, affordable and precise from Normcore, or from Weber Workshops with tamper and Moonraker. You will find matching machines under espresso machines.
Frequently asked questions
How accurately does the integrated scale of the Eureka Mignon Libra weigh?
Eureka specifies the dosing consistency as ±0.2 grams. You program the target weight in grams, and the Libra stops when the dose is reached. Bean moisture and fill level no longer affect the final weight as they do with a time-based grinder.
Is the Eureka Mignon Libra a single-dose grinder?
No. The Libra has a 300-gram bean hopper (optional 510 grams) and grinds on demand from the hopper. The grinders from Option-O, for example, are built for single dosing.
Does the Eureka Mignon Libra fit my espresso machine?
Eureka describes the special fork as fitting any portafilter, adjustable by hand without tools. The included dosing funnel covers doses from single to triple shot. If you are unsure, the advice tool or a short message to [email protected] will help.
How loud is the Libra?
Silent Technology reduces grinding noise via an anti-vibration system. Eureka does not publish a dB value, so we do not state one.
Can I see the product before buying?
In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) we show a wide selection, but not the entire range, and the display changes. Write to us before your visit at [email protected] and we will check whether the Libra is on site. More at coffeecoachingclub.ch.
Do I also need an external scale?
Not for the dose. A scale under the cup is useful to control the beverage weight and thus the extraction. We grind fine, start at 14.5 grams and usually go up to 17 grams, at a ratio of 1:2 or below.
Tip from the roastery: Eureka recommends the Libra for espresso from darker roasts. Our full-bodied Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight with chocolate, nut and caramel go well with it. For maximum body without acidity: Very Nutty. For everyone who wants to discover something fruity: Wild Peach. Any other bean works just as well. That is our recommendation, one of many.
